In honor of National Eye Exam month, let's take a look back on our summer eye exam & vision screening highlights! ✨

Since June, we have had five events providing comprehensive eye exams and free prescription eyewear to those in need! 👓

We also had several vision screening events where we helped participants take the first step to improving their eye health! 👁️

Swipe to see ECN Purpose in action! ☀️🚐

Dr. Grattan providing mentorship and pre-event training to our wonderful optometric techs: Jeannie, Jasmin, and Annabelle! ✨

Vision screenings are the first step to building awareness of your personal eye health! 👁️

We are so grateful for our Optometric Techs that volunteer for our events with passion and expertise! 💙

And of course, eye exams are the heart of what we do at ECN Purpose! Our skilled Optometrists have detected signs of diabetes, kerataconus, and more for our participants to be referred for further treatment and get the help they need! 👁️

Our obligatory van group pics 🚐📸 We love showing off our beloved mobile eye health unit, Iris, and our amazing team!

Participants at eye exam events receive their very own prescription glasses at no cost! We provide an intentional eyewear experience with stylish frames to choose from 👓✨

And of course, the furry friends at our events that make it even more special and fun! ☀️🐶

Welcome back to our Understanding Common Eye Conditions Series! Today's topic: Eye Floaters 👀

Have you ever noticed little spots, squiggly lines, or cobweb-like shapes drifting across your vision? You may be seeing eye floaters!

Floaters are very common and usually aren’t something to worry about. But if you suddenly notice a lot more floaters, flashes of light, or a dark “curtain” over your vision, it’s important to get checked by an eye care professional right away.

Swipe through to learn more about what causes floaters, what they look like, and when they may be a sign of something more serious. 👁️💙

✨ Meet our next Volunteer Spotlight: Kristiana! ✨

We’re excited to highlight Kristiana, a recent UC Irvine graduate and dedicated ECN Purpose volunteer who is passionate about making vision care more accessible to the communities we serve. 💙

As she prepares to apply to optometry school, Kristiana continues to gain valuable experience through her work with ECN Purpose. Beyond volunteering at our events, she generously mentors fellow volunteers and has helped shape our Social Media Ambassador Program, bringing her creativity, leadership, and passion for vision care to everything she does!

Thank you, Kristiana, for your dedication and commitment to our mission. We’re SO grateful to have you as part of the ECN Purpose family and can’t wait to see what’s next for you! 👁️✨

Back-to-school season is here! 🎒👓

We’re grateful to have provided FREE vision screenings at Operation Be Kind’s Back-to-School event! From vision screenings to optometrist-led exams, our team helped make eye care more accessible for local families. 💙

A special thank you to Dr. Kelly Phan for providing eye exams, and to our amazing volunteer technicians and translators for helping everything run smoothly and ensuring families felt supported throughout the event. 🫶

👀 Understanding Common Eye Conditions: Amblyopia

Next up in our Understanding Common Eye Conditions series: amblyopia, also known as “lazy eye.”

Amblyopia usually develops during childhood when one eye doesn’t develop clear vision the way it should. If left untreated, it can lead to long-term vision problems.

Swipe through to learn more about what amblyopia is, some common signs to look out for, and how it can be treated! 👁️

Clearer vision starts with access. 👓💙

In partnership with Grandma's House of Hope, we hosted a mobile eye health event to help make essential vision care more accessible to individuals experiencing homelessness.

Through this event, 12 community members received comprehensive eye exams and personalized prescription glasses at no cost. For some participants, this was the first eye exam they had ever received.

A special thank you to Dr. Wang of Advanced Eye Care Optometric and our technicians, Kristiana and Kayla, for donating their time and expertise to make this event possible.

Together, we're helping create a future where everyone can see clearly.
