Our programs are intended to help close the gap in access to vision care among individuals who may not otherwise be able to get vision care services.

Welcome to our final post for our National Sports Safety Month series! ⚽️🏀🏈

Playing sports without the proper protective gear can lead to serious injuries, and several instances in professional sports emphasize this.

Players Herb Score of the Cleveland Guardians and Tony Conigliaro of the Boston Red Sox both suffered severe retinal damage and affected eyesight after baseball injuries. ⚾️

Similarly, Henry Boucha of the Minnesota North Stars and Bernie Parent of the Philadelphia Flyers experienced significant eye injuries while playing hockey, which ultimately led to their retirements. 🏒

Be sure to wear the proper protective eyewear and gear to continue playing your favorite sports! 👓🧢

Welcome back to our National Sports Safety Month: Common Eye Injuries series ⚽️🏀🏈

Did you know that those with myopia or who have had a previous eye surgery are more likely to sustain eye injuries with more severe consequences?

Potential eye injuries from sports include corneal abrasions to open globe injuries which can lead to permanent vision loss.

Be sure to wear the proper protective gear while playing sports to stop preventable eye injuries!
