Sometimes it’s just the little things, like watching Larry relax in a billowing field of white clover. 🤍🦙

Shedding update on our Katahdin cuties!

Everyone’s feeling a little itchy, and rocking some seriously retro hair styles, but thankfully all the shedded fiber is perfect for the nesting birds and other wildlife to use for their homes!

In spring 2025, a flock of 7 Khaki Campbell ducks came to reside here at the rescue. Their former owner loved and cared for them in all the most amazing ways, until she had to relocate to a completely different climate. Fearing her beloved ducks wouldn’t thrive there, she made the bold but honorable decision to re-home them.

She did right by them in ensuring they would have a great forever home, and continues to contribute to their care to this day!

This flock is certainly the cutest we’ve ever seen, and when they see humans they come running! Even if it is for their favorite breakfast (peas and corn), their favorite snack (meal worms), or their special dinner food, we love to see ‘em coming!

In rescue work, there are many days that are neither rainbows nor sunshine, but so many more that are. Today we wanted to highlight and celebrate all the good ones!

Viggo, one of our Mustang rescues, has suffered a lot of trauma that’s caused him to be shy and standoffish. Slowly, he’s learning to feel safe accepting affection from our team of caretakers.

Here he is enjoying every second of Christy scratching his favorite spot! Watching him relax and enjoy being loved on fills us to the brim with pride. Way to go, Viggo!

Huge shoutout to for these gorgeous lotus flowers! We added them to our pond just a few weeks ago and already they’re producing gorgeous blooms. We love peaking through the grasses to find the hidden gems! 🥹 🪷 💞

Responsible animal care means more than love and shelter — it means paying close attention to their health every day. Monitoring weight, managing diet, and limiting rich grass are essential to help prevent serious conditions like laminitis and obesity, especially for donkeys.

We have worked hard with Brooklyn, HeeHaw and Lily on making the scale “not scary” and you can see how much it’s become part of their routine!

Regular hoof care, exercise, fresh water, and routine vet checks all play a part in keeping donkeys healthy, comfortable, and thriving for years to come. 🫏💚

These sweet yet timid boys came from a home in our local community that could no longer give them what they needed to thrive. Their owner reached out, and we are grateful that they cared so much about these two going to a good home.

We don’t have a great deal of medical history on them, but they both arrived in need of medical care. Our team, along with our amazing vet, was able to jump right in on day one!

The boys have since received medicine, hoof trims, and all the hay they can ever want! We are working very hard to build trust with them as they are very shy. Within just one week they are now coming to greet us and eating treats right out of our hands. We are so grateful they are giving us a chance!

Once they are back to full health and their quarantine period is over, we plan to introduce them to our existing sheep herd, and we can’t wait! 🐑

It’s time for spring vaccines for our cow herd! 🐮 ⛑️

Never a small undertaking, but all our beloved cows did a great job!

Huge shout out to the whole crew that helped to make this painless and easy on the cows.

(Of course, a little extra grain goes a long way, too 😋)
