Meet Cal, the self-appointed manager of Blue Ridge Rescue Barn. He keeps an eye on everything, appears exactly where he pleases, and has absolutely no intention of explaining himself.

Basically, we just work here. Cal runs the place. 🤍

🌾 MEET LARRY | The Grandpa of the Pasture 🦙🤍

If this rescue had a front-porch grandpa, it would be Larry.

Larry is one of our longtime residents and has been part of the rescue family longer than many of the animals here. He’s a simple man with simple priorities: good grass, a peaceful afternoon, and absolutely no reason to rush anywhere.

Most days you’ll find him slowly making his way through the pasture, grazing, relaxing and keeping an eye on whatever foolishness the rest of the herd has gotten themselves into.

And Larry’s leisurely lifestyle is actually pretty fitting for a llama. Llamas are grazing herbivores and camelids, and after eating they spend time ruminating, bringing food back up to chew it again as part of digestion. They’re also naturally social animals that prefer the company of other llamas or compatible herd animals (Larry actually hangs out with our herd of Sheep)

Around here, Larry seems to have perfected the art of taking life exactly one mouthful of grass at a time. 🌿

No deadlines.
No drama.
Just Larry.

And honestly, we could all probably learn a little something from him. 🤎
