🌱 Volunteers Wanted at the Fawohodie Urban Farm Plot! 🌱

We are looking for youth, families, and community members who want to get their hands in the soil and grow with us!

There is so much happening in the garden right now — planting, pruning, weeding, pollinating, learning, planning future growing spaces, preparing for harvest season, and dreaming up the next season’s garden together. 🌻🍅🥬

At the Fawohodie Urban Farm Plot, we believe growing food is more than gardening — it’s community, healing, education, self-sufficiency, and reconnecting with the land.

Whether you have experience or have never grown anything before, we welcome you. We love teaching people how to grow food in all kinds of spaces and showing youth that they can create abundance with their own hands.

Come learn:
✨ Gardening & food growing
✨ Pollinator care
✨ Harvesting techniques
✨ Seasonal planning
✨ Sustainable growing practices
✨ Community care & teamwork

Bring your children, your curiosity, your energy, and your willingness to learn. 🌿

If you’d like to volunteer, send us a message or sign up today!

This is more than a garden—it’s a place to build skills, confidence, community, and connection to the earth.

✨ Introducing SmAlbany Poets ✨
A youth poetry initiative by Fawohodie Cultural Sustainability Center

What happens when young people are given the space to speak—not just to be heard, but to be understood?

SmAlbany Poets is a creative space for youth (grades 6–12) to explore their voices through poetry, writing, and performance. This program invites young people to express their thoughts, emotions, and lived experiences in ways that build confidence, literacy, and connection.

Through workshops, open mics, and poetry slam experiences, participants will:
• Develop writing and performance skills
• Build confidence in self-expression
• Engage in meaningful conversations about real-life topics
• Strengthen literacy through creative practice
• Be seen, heard, and valued

This is more than poetry.
This is about creating space for youth voice, truth, and power.

💬 Why it matters:
Our youth have something to say. SmAlbany Poets helps them find the words—and the courage—to say it.

🤝 How you can support:
• Encourage a young person to join
• Share this with families, schools, and youth groups
• Connect us with spaces for workshops & events
• Volunteer or partner with us
• Help us build something lasting for our community
