HOMETOWN HERO - JOE NAJJAR🎖
Joe Najjar served 20 years on active duty as an officer in the United States Marine Corps. His primary occupational specialty was Assault Amphibian Vehicles, with duty stations that included Camp LeJeune, NC; Brunswick, ME; Albany, GA; and Okinawa, Japan.
After his military career, Joe joined Albany Technical College, where he dedicated another 20 years of service.
In 2001, he transitioned into an administrative role, providing staff support for the Albany Technical College Foundation Board. As his position evolved, Joe also assisted the college’s governing board and coordinated special projects, including the GOAL and Rick Perkins Teacher of the Year programs.
Joe’s commitment to service extends far beyond his professional life. He began volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America—now Scouting America—in 1983, when his oldest child joined Cub Scouts. After relocating to Albany, both he and his wife, Eileen, took on leadership roles in local scouting units. Joe continues to serve at both the unit and council levels. Joe is also active in the Exchange Club of Albany, assisting with the Exchange Club Fair and supporting the organization’s pillars of child abuse prevention, community service, youth development, and Americanism. His dedication was recently recognized when he was named the Exchange Club’s Volunteer of the Year.
In addition, Joe serves on the Albany Area Chamber’s Military Affairs Committee and is a member of the Marine Corps League and American Legion Post 30, helping strengthen ties between these organizations and local veterans.
In recognition of his many contributions to the people and youth of Albany and Southwest Georgia, Mitchell EMC and Georgia 104.5 proudly name Joe Najjar as a Hometown Hero.

🌲 From Scout Camp to Game Studio: The Reynolds Brothers’ Journey 🎮

Before Imagine Dragons was topping charts around the world, Dan and Mac Reynolds were just two Scouts spending their summers at camp with the Las Vegas Area Council. Both earned the rank of Eagle Scout, but their shared love for adventure, creativity — and late-night games of *capture the flag* — planted a different kind of dream: making a video game.

Now, that dream is real.

Coming in 2026, Last Flag is the first game from their studio, Night Street Games. Inspired directly by their time at Scout camp, the game captures the thrill of hiding in the woods, the rush of sneaking past the enemy, and the joy of flag snatching with your patrolmates under the stars.

🗣️ “Dan and I grew up in Scouts,” says Mac Reynolds, now the CEO of Night Street Games. “We’ve got a bunch of brothers, and we used to play capture the flag in the woods at night. It’s a quintessential childhood experience.”

Dan, the lead singer of Imagine Dragons, agrees. “My favorite part about Scout camp was playing capture the flag in the woods,” he shared in an interview. “*Last Flag* is essentially hide-and-seek with a flag.”

In true Scout spirit, the game includes a character named “Scout” and focuses on teamwork, strategy, and exploration — a nod to their formative years in Scouting.

🕹️ Game Details:
– Classic capture-the-flag gameplay
– Two teams of five
– 10 unique characters to choose from
– Each match under 20 minutes
– Launching on PC via Steam and Epic Games (console version in the works)

Dan and Mac’s journey from Eagle Scouts to rock stars to game creators is proof that the lessons learned in Scouting — teamwork, imagination, leadership — don’t just stay at camp. They grow with you.
