HOMETOWN HERO - JOE NAJJAR🎖
Joe Najjar served 20 years on active duty as an officer in the United States Marine Corps. His primary occupational specialty was Assault Amphibian Vehicles, with duty stations that included Camp LeJeune, NC; Brunswick, ME; Albany, GA; and Okinawa, Japan.
After his military career, Joe joined Albany Technical College, where he dedicated another 20 years of service.
In 2001, he transitioned into an administrative role, providing staff support for the Albany Technical College Foundation Board. As his position evolved, Joe also assisted the college’s governing board and coordinated special projects, including the GOAL and Rick Perkins Teacher of the Year programs.
Joe’s commitment to service extends far beyond his professional life. He began volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America—now Scouting America—in 1983, when his oldest child joined Cub Scouts. After relocating to Albany, both he and his wife, Eileen, took on leadership roles in local scouting units. Joe continues to serve at both the unit and council levels. Joe is also active in the Exchange Club of Albany, assisting with the Exchange Club Fair and supporting the organization’s pillars of child abuse prevention, community service, youth development, and Americanism. His dedication was recently recognized when he was named the Exchange Club’s Volunteer of the Year.
In addition, Joe serves on the Albany Area Chamber’s Military Affairs Committee and is a member of the Marine Corps League and American Legion Post 30, helping strengthen ties between these organizations and local veterans.
In recognition of his many contributions to the people and youth of Albany and Southwest Georgia, Mitchell EMC and Georgia 104.5 proudly name Joe Najjar as a Hometown Hero.
