Leadership Albany was established in 1984 for the purpose of identifying and developing leaders in the Albany, GA area, exposing them to issues and problems confronting the community, informing them about institutions in the community and providing a forum for the participants to better know each other.

Meet Tomekia Cooper – an inspiring educator and Academic Dean of General Education, Professional Services, Public Safety, and Technology at Albany Technical College! 📚✨

In her role, Tomekia oversees a wide range of academic programs, helping shape educational pathways that meet the evolving needs of business and industry partners across Southwest Georgia. She plays a vital role in the development and supervision of programs designed to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities needed to thrive as productive citizens and workforce leaders in their communities. Through her leadership, Tomekia helps bridge the gap between education and career readiness, empowering students to succeed both in the classroom and beyond. 💼📈🎯

Outside of Albany Tech, Tomekia is deeply committed to community service and youth development. She serves as a Board Member for Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful, coordinates the Albany Tech Summer Enrichment Camp, volunteers with Albany Tech’s canned food drives and community service efforts, and dedicates her time as a tutor at New Birth Fellowship Church. 🌱📦💙

Meet Colton Glover – entrepreneur, coach, and Owner of G3 Athletics & Performance! 🏋️‍♂️🔥

As the leader of a dynamic, values-driven fitness facility, Colton blends leadership, coaching, programming, and community building to help both adults and youth become stronger—inside and out. Through structured group fitness programs, he designs and oversees adult strength and conditioning classes while also directing youth athletic development programs that combine performance training with character-building values. At G3, Colton and his team are committed to building more than athletes—they’re helping shape confident, disciplined, and purpose-driven individuals for life both on and off the field. 🏃‍♂️🏆✨

Beyond the gym, Colton continues to serve his community through a volunteer leadership role at Hope City United, where Dream Team Directors help lead more than 300 individuals and serve the community weekly through church outreach efforts. 🙌💙

Meet Vanessa Richardson – a dedicated educator, leader, and School Improvement Specialist at Dougherty High School! 🍎📈✨

In her role, Vanessa works tirelessly to support school improvement and student success by organizing strategic plans that help Dougherty High School achieve its goals. She closely monitors the implementation of the School Improvement Plan (SIP), analyzes academic, behavioral, and attendance data, and partners with administrators, teachers, and stakeholders to drive data-informed decision-making. Through mentoring new math teachers, supporting instructional quality, and leading initiatives that strengthen school culture, Vanessa helps create an environment where both educators and students can thrive. 📊✏️🎓

Beyond the classroom, Vanessa is a passionate entrepreneur and community leader. She is the owner of Simply Rich Sweets, serves as the Compliance Officer and Secretary for Georgia Patriots Youth Athletics and Mentoring Program, and is an active member of My Sister’s Keeper—continuing her mission of mentorship, empowerment, and service. 🧁🏈💙

The 2026 class of Leadership Albany, presented by Flint Community Bank, continued their journey with “Shaping Tomorrow Together: Innovation & Technology Day.” 💡🚔🏥

This exciting program day gave the class a closer look at how emerging technology, healthcare innovation, public safety systems, and cross-sector collaboration are shaping the future of Albany and strengthening the community’s ability to serve, protect, and grow.

Throughout the day, participants:
✔️ Explored how innovation improves service, decision-making, and community outcomes
✔️ Learned how agencies, institutions, and leaders work together to turn new ideas into real solutions
✔️ Gained insight into the opportunities and challenges of leading through innovation and change
✔️ Discussed how technology is helping prepare Albany for the future

Kerri plays a vital role in ensuring the seamless operation of the President’s office, managing everything from executive scheduling and board communications to overseeing aspects of the loan portfolio process. She leads key functions in HR, payroll, employee benefits, and professional development, while also guiding initiatives like the employee evaluation process and updates to the Employee Handbook.

Beyond operations, Kerri supports department leaders by providing tools and resources to strengthen team development and leadership growth, while also partnering on marketing and public relations efforts to ensure consistency, engagement, and a strong brand presence.
