Coach Martens was known for many things, his passion for running, his dedication to students and athletes, and his commitment to helping others succeed.

But at the center of it all was his faith.

These were words Bill carried with him and tried to live out every day: humility, trust, sacrifice, and service to others.

As we prepare for The Mental Mile on Saturday, we're remembering not only what Bill accomplished, but the values he worked to embody.

💚 Offer up. Give. Sacrifice. 💚

Some people run when they feel like it. Coach Martens tracked every mile.

Year after year, mile after mile, he showed up. Not because it was easy, but because consistency mattered. The miles represent more than exercise - they represent discipline, commitment, perseverance, and a lifelong passion for movement.

The Mental Mile is our way of honoring that legacy while bringing our community together around something equally important: supporting one another and promoting mental health awareness.

For Coach Martens, running was never just about competition. 💚

It was about discipline. Clearing your mind. Pushing yourself. Staying healthy. Finding purpose. Encouraging others to keep going even when things got hard.

The Mental Mile is a chance for our community to come together in that same spirit. To support mental health awareness, encourage one another, and remind people they are never alone.

We hope you’ll join us June 20th >> https://bit.ly/49isSwU

One of the best things about Coach Martens was that he knew how to make people smile. 💚

He was competitive, passionate, encouraging, and full of energy, but he also brought joy everywhere he went. Whether it was a race, practice, or school hallway, Bill had a way of making people feel seen and lifted up.

That spirit is a big part of what The Mental Mile is all about.

Not just running or walking, but showing up for each other, supporting mental health, and building the kind of community where people know they matter.
