Three cheers for friends with trucks! Each year, we team up with the good folks over at Farm Credit Services of America in Aberdeen to pick up the HUGE donation of food and household goods from the halls at Northern State University at the end of spring semester. Four very full truckloads and the back of a Bronco was picked up and hauled over the The Salvation Army Aberdeen, SD and The Journey Home in conjunction with the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. We are so thankful for their enthusiastic willingness to serve our great community.

Safe Harbor is currently in need of a few everyday cleaning essentials to help keep our space stocked for the individuals and families we serve. Every donation, big or small, helps us maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.

We're still waiting on the final numbers but it's safe to say Aberdeen beat out last year in amount of food donated to the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive! We had a blast with the best volunteer crew we could ask for. Over 8 TONS of food was hauled in, sorted, and delivered to The Salvation Army Aberdeen, SD and The Journey Home in just a single day!
A HUGE thank you to all our postal carriers for organizing this day year after year. It's a huge undertaking for them.

Stop what your doing!
Pop over to your kitchen.
Grab one of those grocery bags you have stuffed into a bag that's stuffed into a bag...
Open your food cabinet.
Grab just one item - maybe that side dish box you thought you'd try out and never did -
Put it in your bag.
Keep going if you're feeling the fever of clearing that cupboard out!
Take your hopefully now full bag out by your mailbox (if you have a little walk, don't forget your mug of coffee to keep you company).
Prop that make somewhere near your mailbox.
Boom - you're done!

Your postal carrier will pick it up while delivering your mail and get that to a local food shelf.

SO SIMPLE!!!
