James Valley Model Railroad Association The JVMRRA was established in 1987 in Aberdeen, South Dakota, to promote model railroading and serve aficionados of the "Hub City's" great railroading history.

The James Valley Model Railroad Association was formed on November 3, 1987 when a group of twenty-two model railroad buffs met in the Northwest Public Service meeting room. The Association charter was adapted and signed by twenty-two members on February 15, 1988. Ten of these original members are still active in the association today.

Hello Everyone!

Open house today from 11am to 4pm!. The O-scalers plan on doing their night display from 1pm to 2 pm. It's always a cool thing to experience. The HO crew is here as well showing off their progress.
Lots of things to see amd do for the kids. There may even be a candy train for them to see 👀.

As always admission is free and we are wheel chair accessible!

Starting to ballast on the helix. Woodland Scenics fine grey and white mixed. I use a spoon to lay the ballast and a 1/2 inch flat brush to smooth it. I then use a small spray bottle with a fine spray head with mix of water and denatured alcohol gently applied until the ballast is saturated, but not runny. I then apply a dilute mix of Elmers white glue diluted about 50 percent with a little alcohol added. Apply gently so as not to disturb the ballast. Using a cloth attached to a small wood block I wipe down the rails. Drying times depend on temperature and humidity.
