Today our Minds Matter team is wearing PURPLE in support of Safe Harbor and Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Here’s something you may not know: Domestic violence can cause brain injuries that go undiagnosed for years. Repeated blows to the head or strangulation can affect memory, attention, emotional regulation, and decision-making.

At Minds Matter, we believe brain health matters for EVERYONE, especially those who have survived trauma.

Today we wear purple for the survivors, the families, and the incredible work Safe Harbor does in our community. 💜

Domestic violence can take many forms, including emotional abuse, threats, controlling behavior, and isolation from loved ones. Knowing the signs can help us better support those who may be experiencing abuse.

💜 October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Domestic violence can affect anyone, regardless of age, background, or circumstance. This month is an opportunity to raise awareness, support survivors, and remind those experiencing domestic violence that they are not alone and help is available.

The Aberdeen Police Department is proud to recognize Safe Harbor and the important services they provide to individuals and families in our community impacted by domestic violence.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, we encourage you to reach out for help. Resources like Safe Harbor, law enforcement, and other community partners are here to provide support and assistance.

Together, we can raise awareness, support survivors, and help build a safer community.

Thank you so much to all who joined us for our first Bingo night! We had an amazing turnout and raised just over $2,000.
