BRAC Day 2026: One Mission, Shared Impact Across NGO & Microfinance
Today, we proudly celebrated BRAC Day 2026 as one unified team, BRAC Sierra Leone-NGO and Microfinance, coming together to reflect on our shared impact and commitment to transforming lives across Sierra Leone.
Hosted at the Country Lodge Hotel in Freetown, the celebration brought together esteemed national stakeholders and partners who continue to support our mission. We were honored to welcome:
• National Coordinator, Sierra Leone Association of Non-Governmental Organizations (SLANGO)
• Chairman, Sierra Leone Association of Microfinance Institutions (SLAMFI)
• Director of Other Financial Institutions, Senior Officials, Central Bank
• Director of NGO Affairs, Ministry of Planning and Economic Development (MoPED)
• Bangladeshi Consular to Sierra Leone
Our Keynote Speaker, Hon. Emily Gogra, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), delivered a compelling message recognizing BRAC’s enduring impact and emphasizing the importance of valuing our frontline staff, in line with this year’s theme, “The Power of Empathy: Recognising Our Frontline Staff.” She also presented a special 54th anniversary birthday card to BRAC.
Across both NGO and Microfinance, the message was clear, our strength lies in how we serve people. From delivering essential services to providing inclusive financial solutions, our work continues to reach the last mile, empowering communities and creating opportunities where they are needed most.
A key highlight of the day was the presentation of the Sir Fazle Hasan Abed Values Award 2026 to Mary Monica Bangura, Senior Finance Officer, an inspiring recognition of excellence, integrity, and dedication across our shared platform.
At the Country Office, the celebration extended into a joyful Parenthood Day, where staff children were welcomed to experience the environment their parents contribute to every day. With games, laughter, and gifts, it was a meaningful reminder that our work is not only about today, but about building a better future for the next generation.
Across all regional offices, staff and partners celebrated in unity, reinforcing that BRAC’s impact is strongest when NGO and Microfinance move forward together.
Together, we remain committed to empathy, excellence, and empowering every community we serve.
