We’re on our way to We Out Here Festival and at 2PM TODAY, our very own Ellie takes over Worldwide FM for a very special hour of It Takes A Village.
For one hour, Ellie will be joining the musical dots between Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Iran, the UK and beyond, sharing music created through the projects we support with records she loves and sounds connected to the artists, people, places and causes that have become part of our journey.
Expect music from No Input No Output, created in Sierra Leone through Get Equipped with WAYout (Worldwide Arts For Youth) and producer Steve Mac ; unreleased music made in Tanzania this year with local musicians, choir leaders and D&B artists; music from Iran with its own powerful story; and records from artists and collaborators whose music and support have crossed paths with ours along the way.
Sonically, it moves through Afro-rooted rhythms, Afro-house, percussion, soul and electronic music, with flashes of drum & bass and UK club culture sometimes colliding, sometimes calling and responding to one another, but always connected by people and story.
Because Get Equipped has never simply been about putting equipment into a room.
It’s about what can happen when people have access to creative spaces and opportunities: expression, confidence, connection, joy and HOPE.
And today, music that began in some of those spaces gets heard alongside music that has inspired us, moved us and connected us — on .fm from one of the UK’s most important celebrations of global music and culture.
