Care for the Elderly Foundation Singapore Care for the Elderly Foundation (Singapore)

The Foundation had its beginnings as an informal volunteer group in 1992 which provided transport and escort services to elderly and immobile patients who needed to attend specialist outpatient clinics in hospitals. Seeing the need for a more comprehensive approach to helping the frail elderly, the Foundation was formally set up in 1995 and registered as a charity in 1996.

Being an active father who loves to SurfSkate and spend time with his family, Mr Collins is an epitome of perseverance and devotion as a parent to his two children.

For this Fatherโ€™s Day, his wife and two children talk about their favourite moments with Mr Collins, who is coping with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). Mr Collins also personally shares how his own father has supported him on this journey.

ALS is a progressive disease in which a personโ€™s brain loses connection with the muscles, slowly affecting the ability to walk, talk and eat. As a way to communicate with his family and our Care Associates, Mr Collins uses an eye tracker device which translates gaze into actionable commands, making it possible for him to put his thoughts into readable text.

Thank you Mr Collins and family for sharing such precious memories with us. Wishing all fathers a Happy Fatherโ€™s Day!

As Hari Raya Haji and Vesak Day are both commemorated in May, they serve as a reminder to reflect on compassion, practice mindfulness, and cultivate good virtues.

From the intention to combine sensory play with a charitable cause, children and parents from Blue Lion conducted a slime-making workshop as an intergenerational activity with elderly patients from CEF.

It was really heartwarming to see the children and seniors spending meaningful time together through the process, with lots of smiles and interactions across generations. We are also grateful to Blue Lion for their generous donation and support for CEF through the slime sale fundraising initiative.

A big thank you to our Social Work team for the time and effort put into organising and coordinating the session. It truly made the sensory experience meaningful for both the seniors and children.

Mdm Sin was not prepared for the lifelong responsibility of caring for a daughter with developmental and physical challenges. With no caregiving experience and limited English proficiency, medical appointments were confusing and overwhelming.

Over time, caregiving transformed Mdm Sin from feeling helpless into her daughterโ€™s strongest advocate. Today, Mdm Sin looks back with pride on how far she has come.

As the demands of caregiving grew heavier, CEF became a vital source of support for both mother and her daughter.

This Motherโ€™s Day, you can stand alongside mothers like Mdm Sin by making a gift that helps ensure caregivers receive the support they need.

Happy Labour Day | ๅŠณๅŠจ่Š‚ๅฟซไน
Behind every skyline, every hawker stall, and every thriving neighbourhood โ€” there are hands that built it all.
Today, we pay tribute to our elderly and senior workers โ€” who gave their sweat and years often without recognition. This Labour Day, we stand beside them, ensuring they are seen, heard, and cared for.
Your labour was your legacy. Thank you. ๐Ÿ™โค๏ธ
Letโ€™s continue their story with kindness and care.

Dear Friends and Supporters,

After more than three decades of dedicated service, Venerable Shi Wei Zhi will be relinquishing his role as Honorary Executive Director with effect from 1 April 2026.

Venerable Wei Zhi has served CEF since its inception in 1992, holding various roles working his way up from the position of Administrator to his current position. Under his sterling stewardship and visionary leadership, CEF evolved as one of the leading providers of Home Medical and Nursing Care services, in a healthcare landscape which focused on acute patient care to a full continuum of care, including Home Personal Care, Endโ€‘ofโ€‘Life Care, and Gerontological Social Work.

His unwavering commitment, guidance, and compassion have been instrumental in shaping the Foundationโ€™s mission and strengthening its impact on the lives of seniors and their families.

On behalf of the Board and Management, I wish to extend our deepest gratitude for his invaluable contributions and legacy of service to serving seniors and their families. We are pleased to share that Venerable Wei Zhi will continue to serve on the Board after the leadership transition.

Following this transition, Bryan Poh will take on the leadership of CEF.
Bryan brings with him deep institutional knowledge and a longโ€‘standing commitment to CEF. He has been a volunteer with the Foundation since 1997, served as a Board member since 2007, and joined CEFโ€™s management in 2015 as Programme Manager. His contributions up the ladder, was under the close mentorship of Venerable Wei Zhi and hence, his appointment to helm CEF reflects strong continuity of leadership and a deep alignment with the Foundationโ€™s values and mission.

Bryan is an alumnus of the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), holding a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, a Masterโ€™s in Social Work, and a Graduate Diploma in Gerontology.

This leadership transition reflects CEFโ€™s ongoing commitment to good governance, continuity, and organisational sustainability. I look forward to your continued support for Bryan just as you have over the years, boosted the team and CEF led by Ven Wei Zhi.

We thank our partners, donors, volunteers, and supporters for your continued trust and support, and we look forward to working together as we continue to care for our seniors with compassion, dignity, and excellence.

Yours sincerely,
Dr Ong Seh Hong, PBM
Board President
