“The question is not whether you have something to give, but whether the living water God has placed within you is flowing towards someone else, because springs stay healthy by flowing.” - Andre Tan

This week, Ps. Andre continued our series, The Model Church, by answering the question: Why should I invest in building relationships within the church?

Through 1 Thessalonians 2:1–19, we find three marks of a Christ-centred community: deep affection, mutual responsibility and great joy.

One of the greatest evidences of Christ at work is a community that has deep affection for one another, who love one another in ways that cannot be explained naturally. As we walk with Jesus, our loves are transformed and shaped around what He loves. To love Him is to love His church and His people.

With that love comes the mutual responsibility to care for and challenge one another to grow in Christ. Love cannot remain indifferent when we see someone we love being ruined. It is through correction rooted in affection that we can become more like Christ.

And when you see someone you love become who they were created to be in Christ, there is a great and unique joy that belongs to those who invested themselves in the spiritual growth of another person.

Because we belong to Christ, our lives have become fountains through which the life of God is meant to flow into the lives of others. Building relationships within the church and discipleship are thus not a ministry for a gifted few, but the normal overflow of every believer’s new identity.

Happy Monday, ! We hope you had a restful start to your week as we celebrate our nation’s 61st birthday. Here’s a look back at some moments from service yesterday!

As we continue on our series on The Model Church, may we learn the importance and the joy of building friendships and relationships in the church. We were made to love what Christ loves, so our prayer is that the more we fall in love with Him, the more we begin to love His Church.

Have a blessed week, and we’ll see you again this Sunday!

Hi City Fam & friends! 👋🏼 It is Alpha Season! What that means is that we are intentionally creating opportunities for people to explore faith.

This Sunday, instead of our usual worship and sermon format, we will get to experience what an Alpha session is like, together. 🔎❓

What To Expect?
Come hungry, because we will be starting with a more generous breakfast spread at 9.45am. Then, we will watch an Alpha video, and spend some time in conversation around our tables.

🌳 GO Kids classes will run as usual, so your little ones are taken care of and you can participate fully.

We would love for you to come with an open heart, arrive early for breakfast, and enjoy something a little different from our usual Sunday rhythm. We cannot wait to see you at Alpha Experience Sunday!

🟥 P/S: There will be no livestream on Sunday, and Level 5 Cafeteria will not be available for use due to the school’s internal event. Please join us on-site and make plans for lunch outside Nexus.

“Evangelism is the church rediscovering its missionary identity and people experiencing it as a transformed community” - Timothy Shaun

In week 2 of our series on The Model Church, Tim shared on evangelism and how, as a church, we can grow and experience a shift in our posture towards it. He reminded us that evangelism isn’t a strategy for church growth - it’s the overflow of a community transformed for God’s mission.

As a missional community, may we be a people who love authentically rather than see them as projects. May we be open and welcoming to those exploring the faith, knowing that truth doesn’t fear honest questions. And above all, may we remember to trust the Holy Spirit, knowing that God is the one who moves hearts, not us. He simply calls us to be faithful, and He will make things fruitful in His time.

Hope you had a lovely start to your week, ! We had quite an eventful Sunday service, starting with sending off and blessing Jason & Melissa and the Fong family as they step into a new chapter of their lives in Hong Kong, to bananas handed out as a representation of the Alpha journey, and listening to testimonies on how easy opening our doors and our hearts can be from Jey and Jan, and on Alpha from Daylon.

We pray that the testimonies will stick with us as we enter into a new run of Alpha, and increase the desire and courage to share the Good News with the ones who don’t Him.

Have a blessed week ahead, and we’ll see you on Sunday!

“A life worth imitating is one that can be traced back to God.” - Sng Peh Han

Ps. Pei Han kicked off our new series, The Model Church with a message from 1 Thessalonians 1:1–10 on what makes a church worth imitating.

The church in Thessalonica was not exemplary for its size or track record, but for receiving the gospel in power. As the gospel took root in their hearts, it transformed their lives into a testimony that pointed others to Christ.

As we journey through 1 Thessalonians together, may God do a deep work in our community that we may be a people whose lives are fully surrendered to Him, shaped by the gospel, and that reflects His power and presence.

Happy Monday, ! Here’s a look back at the moments we shared in service yesterday 📸

We had a powerful time of worship and prayer, contending for greater consecration in our lives as individuals and as a church family.

As we begin our study of 1 Thessalonians, may we be a people whose lives are worth imitating - fully surrendered to God, transformed by the gospel and that point others to Him.

Have a blessed week ahead, and we’ll see you next Sunday!

“Can we change the world? Maybe not. But we can change the whole world for one child.” - Andre Tan & Emi Ng

On Sunday, Ps. Andre and Emi shared about the work Compassion is doing around the world, with the goal of releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name.

From Scripture, we know that our God is one that delights in doing immeasurably more with the little that we give, such as being a sponsor to a child to give them a start in changing their circumstances and their world.

You can tune in to the full sharing on our YouTube and Spotify pages. If you’re interested to find out more about Compassion Singapore and the work they do, you can visit their website or approach the booth this Sunday.

Happy Monday, ! Here are some moments we captured in service yesterday 📸

We pray for God’s love and compassion to fill us, such that even in the little acts of service and kindness that we do, He will do immeasurably more in the lives of others.

Have a blessed week ahead, and we’ll see you next Sunday.

“We are beloved before we are productive. We are adopted before we become impressive. We are received before we are recognised.” - Daniel Chua

We had the honour of hearing Ps. Daniel share his heart last Sunday, speaking on the topic of “When No One is Watching”.

In this attention economy, where worth is often measured by how visible a life is, God and His upside-down Kingdom point us in a different direction entirely. He uses the ordinary to reveal what the spectacular can conceal, and does His deepest work in the places and seasons the world calls small, slow, and unremarkable. It’s there that God reminds us our true worth is not something we have to build ourselves, because it was already secured by the finished work of Jesus on the cross.

May we remember that we were loved before we had anything to offer. Because of what Jesus did for us, we are now treasured and secure in Him, and our lives are hidden with Christ in God. Our God sees us for who we truly are, even when no one else is watching.
