📢 Call for Submissions Extended! WERA-TERA 2026 Focal Meeting
ERAS Singapore is pleased to support the dissemination of the extended Call for Submissions for the WERA-TERA 2026 Focal Meeting, organised in collaboration with the Taiwan Education Research Association (TERA).

This extension provides an excellent opportunity for researchers, academics, educators, and graduate scholars who have not yet submitted their proposals to take part in this landmark global education research event.

✨ Day 3 marked a powerful and reflective close to our three-day conference, bringing together the final threads of insight, collaboration, and shared purpose.

The morning began with Johnmarshall Reeve’s thought-provoking keynote, where he examined the Self-as-Agent concept through a neuroscientific lens, offering compelling evidence of how individuals actively shape need-supportive environments that foster personal growth. This was followed by Emma Bradshaw’s inspiring exploration of the psychodynamics of goal pursuit, in which she highlighted how aligning aspirations with autonomous motivation can significantly enhance both well-being and sustained engagement.

Throughout the day, delegates continued to exchange ideas across two final rounds of concurrent sessions held in the HCI classrooms, bringing together diverse perspectives on learning, motivation, self-processes, and educational practice. Lunch offered another opportunity for connection and reflection as participants revisited the insights gathered over the past days and discussed future directions for research and collaboration.

The conference concluded with a meaningful and celebratory Closing Ceremony. This final gathering honoured excellence through the Presentation of the SELF PhD Awards and ERAS Conference Research Paper Prizes. The ceremony closed with group photo-taking—capturing not just faces, but the spirit of a truly international community united in advancing motivation science and educational research.

As we look back, these three days of rich dialogue, groundbreaking research, and genuine academic camaraderie have deepened our collective understanding of motivation, learning, and human development. A heartfelt thank you to all speakers, partners, and participants for making this conference a meaningful, energising, and impactful gathering of minds. Together, we move forward inspired to champion evidence-based practices that empower educators and learners around the world. 🌏✨

✨ Day 2 of the conference unfolded with deep insights, meaningful conversations, and a memorable evening to close the day 🌏📘

We began with Dr. Mimi Bong’s powerful keynote, offering a critical re-examination of Achievement Goal Theory. She drew attention to the often-overlooked limitations of ability-validation goals and called for a stronger integration of self-processes to better understand how learners navigate motivation and performance.

This was followed by Professor John Wang, who shared reflections from Singapore’s system-level implementation of Self-Determination Theory. His presentation highlighted how autonomy-supportive environments can meaningfully enhance both teaching practice and student engagement.

The day continued with lively academic exchange across two rounds of concurrent sessions in the HCI classrooms, alongside a vibrant poster and networking lunch session where delegates connected, exchanged ideas, and sparked new collaborations.

As evening fell, delegates gathered at Empress, located within the Asian Civilisations Museum, for our Conference Dinner. Set against the backdrop of one of Singapore’s most historic cultural landmarks, the evening was filled with warm conversations, new connections, and a shared celebration of the passion that brought us together.

A wonderful close to an enriching second day — and a perfect lead-in to the final day of the conference. 🌿✨

✨ A Look Back at an Opening That Set Everything in Motion ✨
As we revisit the official opening of the three-day SELF–ERAS Conference, we’re reminded of the collective energy and anticipation that filled the room from the very first day. 🌍✨

What began as a gathering quickly became a truly global exchange, with more than 300 delegates representing 30 countries coming together to learn, connect, and collaborate.

The conference was formally launched in the presence of our Guest of Honour, Ms. Liew Wei Li, Director-General of Education, Ministry of Education, Singapore — a meaningful moment that highlighted the importance of this international platform for advancing educational research and practice.

The opening day delivered a series of powerful intellectual anchors. Professor Reinhard Pekrun opened with compelling insights into the robustness of the Control-Value Theory of Emotions, illustrating how emotions operate dynamically across individuals and contexts. Professor Richard Ryan then challenged us to rethink performance and well-being in education, emphasising that autonomy, competence, and relatedness lie at the heart of sustainable motivation.

Rounding out the day, Professor John Hattie and Dr. Michael Witter offered a thought-provoking perspective on the relationship between educators’ self-perceptions and student learning. Their rope model left a lasting impression, reinforcing the profound and enduring impact teachers have on educational experiences.

A strong and inspiring opening — one that laid the foundation for the rich dialogue, reflection, and collaboration that followed throughout the conference. 🌿📘✨

✨ Throwing it back to a meaningful start to the Joint 11th SELF International & 24th ERAS Conference 2025 ✨

On 18 November 2025, we had the pleasure of welcoming our keynote speakers over a special lunch before the conference officially began🎤

It was an afternoon filled with inspiring conversations, shared ideas, and reconnecting with our global community of researchers, educators, and practitioners.

That gathering truly set the tone for what became an enriching and collaborative conference. From early insights shared by our keynote speakers to the vibrant exchange of perspectives, the energy in the room reminded us why this community matters so much.
