Representatives from Community Organizers Multiversity (COMultiversity) met with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF) team at the FNF Office for a coordination meeting on the project "Bahanggunihan Lakeshore Training on Advocacy Action Agenda." The discussion centered on aligning project activities, budgetary allocations, and essential administrative standards to ensure smooth and transparent project ex*****on.

COMultiversity extends its sincere gratitude to the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for hosting the meeting and providing valuable partnership and guidance. This collaboration reinforces our shared commitment to empowering lakeshore communities through meaningful advocacy, and we look forward to working closely together as the project unfolds.

The PMMB Federation Leaders convened to review key developments from the Laguna Mid-Year Assessment and Planning and align their priorities for the remaining months of 2026.

The meeting included a re-echo of the results and recommendations from the Laguna Mid-Year Assessment and Planning, providing the leaders with a common understanding of the progress, challenges, and priorities identified during the assessment.

The leaders also discussed and mapped out the Federation’s plans for the remaining months of 2026, guided by its key result areas (KRAs): Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation (DRR/CCA), People’s Organization (PO) Building and Strengthening, Land and Housing, Capacity Building, and Advocacy, Alliance Building and Networking/Policy Change.

The discussions enabled the leaders to align their priorities, identify concrete actions, and strengthen coordination among member organizations.

The Bahanggunihan Network Council of Leaders brought together network leaders to strengthen coordination and collective action for the remainder of the year.

The meeting focused on the appointment and selection of Council Leaders for the Network’s 10 Thematic Committees to ensure clear leadership and active participation in advancing Bahanggunihan’s priorities.

The leaders also discussed and mapped out the Network’s plans for the remaining months of 2026, guided by its key result areas (KRAs): Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation (DRR/CCA), People’s Organization (PO) Building and Strengthening, Capacity Building, and Advocacy, Alliance Building and Networking/Policy Change.

Through the active involvement of its leaders and member organizations, Bahanggunihan continues to advance community organizing, strengthen people’s organizations, build strategic alliances, and pursue responsive governance and meaningful policy change.

The LRB Youth Organization youth leaders facilitated a validation session with their peers in the community to identify and deepen their understanding of the issues and concerns experienced by young people in LRB community.

Among the primary concerns raised was the lack of spaces for children and young people, particularly recreational spaces where they can safely spend time, interact, and engage in activities within the community. Mental health was also identified as a concern, with the youth citing family-related challenges and peer pressure as some of the factors affecting their well-being. Educational concerns were likewise discussed, including bullying, poverty, and family problems that can affect young people’s ability to continue and succeed in their studies.

The validation was conducted through an interactive approach led by the LRB youth leaders. The session began with getting-to-know-you activities to help participants become more comfortable and familiar with one another. Drawing and tableau workshops were also used to allow the youth to creatively express and portray the issues they experience. These approaches made the consultation more engaging and encouraged the participants to actively share their experiences and perspectives.

The activity was conducted in partnership with Save the Children Philippines and Babaylanes, supporting the LRB youth in creating a safe and participatory space for discussing issues that affect their lives and communities.

A comprehensive assessment of the current national situation was conducted with the participation of representatives from Community Organizers Multiversity - CO Multiversity (COM), Urban Poor Associates (UPA), PO leaders from ULAP and KOSMAT. Resource persons included Former Presidential Adviser Secretary Ronal Llamas and Tindig Pilipinas Representative Francis “Kiko” Aquino-Dy.

The speakers reviewed the continuing political footprint of the Duterte administration, ongoing discussions surrounding the impeachment proceedings, and the post-election landscape following the 2025 midterm elections.

Sec. Llamas emphasized the continuing importance of community organizing as a means of strengthening people’s participation, building collective awareness, deepening engagement at the grassroots level and mobilizing communities to respond to issues affecting their lives.

Key discussions focused on emerging alignments and political trajectories leading into the 2028 elections, while emphasizing the urgent need for structural reforms, the proposed Anti-Political Dynasty Bill, territorial sovereignty in the West Philippine Sea (WPS), Pax Silica, and the continuing peace and security challenges in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region on Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

The discussions underscored that a shared and critical understanding of the national situation is essential for institutions and people’s organizations to strengthen their analysis, align their programs and advocacies and respond more effectively to the evolving needs and concerns of the communities.

The Ugnayang Lakas ng mga Apektadong Pamilya (ULAP) Confederation, under the Locally-Led Adaptation (LLA) Project supported by the Huairou Commission, conducted the ULAP Facilitators' Feedbacking and Evaluation Session, which brought together 30 ULAP leaders from Manila, Pasig, Quezon City, Taguig, Floodway-Taytay, Lupang Arenda-Taytay, San Mateo, and Rodriguez (Montalban), along with 5 community organizers from the Community Organizers Multiversity (COM).

The activity served as a venue for facilitators to reflect on their experiences in conducting community awareness sessions on climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction and management, just energy transition, the Rights of Nature, and environmental protection. Through participants' sharing, plenary discussions, and planning workshops, they identified key learnings, challenges, good practices, and areas for improvement in community facilitation.

The session concluded with a planning workshop, where participants developed initial action plans to continue and expand the community awareness campaign, with the goal of reaching more residents and sustaining grassroots action on climate resilience, environmental protection, and community empowerment.

The Ugnayang Lakas ng mga Apektadong Pamilya (ULAP) Confederation, in partnership with the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA), successfully conducted the Participatory Mental Health Mapping and Youth Situationer Workshop, bringing together 40 ULAP youth leaders representing the eight designated areas under the ULAP Confederation.

The workshop provided a safe and creative space for young people to share their lived experiences, identify the realities affecting their mental health, and collectively examine the social, economic, environmental, and community factors influencing their well-being.

Through Creative Drama-in-Education, theater arts, and participatory psychosocial mapping, participants transformed their personal and community stories into meaningful insights that will serve as a foundation for future psychosocial programs, youth advocacy initiatives, and community-based mental health interventions.

The ULAP Confederation extends its sincere appreciation to PETA for its partnership and creative facilitation, and to all the youth participants for their openness, courage, and active participation in making the workshop a meaningful and enriching learning experience.

Leaders from the Ugnayang Lakas ng mga Asosasyon at Pederasyon na Kumikilos sa Usapin ng mga Maralita sa NCR at Rizal (ULAP), the Bahanggunihan Lake and River Network of Laguna, and the Community Organizers Multiversity - CO Multiversity (COM) assembled for a two-day HUAIROU Locally-led Adaptation(LLA) Assessment and Planning Workshop held on July 29–30, 2026.

The workshop served as a venue for community leaders and organizers to assess the progress of the HUAIROU LLA initiative, reflect on key accomplishments and challenges, and develop strategic plans to further strengthen community-led leadership and local governance.

The first day of the workshop focused on the presentation of program and objectives, followed by discussions on the background and history of the HUAIROU Commission and the LLA. Participants then engaged in area-based assessment workshops, where each community examined its achievements, identified implementation challenges, and shared lessons learned. The presentations and plenary discussions encouraged peer learning and facilitated the exchange of experiences and good practices among participating organizations and communities.

On the second day, participants were introduced to the HUAIROU LLA Project Monitoring Framework and discussed mechanisms for strengthening project implementation and accountability. This was followed by a planning workshop, during which each area developed strategic plans and priority activities for the succeeding implementation period. Community leaders also shared their reflections and insights on the assessment and planning process.

The activity concluded with the ULAP Council Meeting, the Bahanggunihan Network Meeting, and a fellowship session that further strengthened solidarity and collaboration among partner organizations and community leaders.

𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟲, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 – 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗗𝗥𝗥) 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

A total of 71 children from Manggahan Residences LRB participated in a learning session on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) facilitated by COM community organizers and leaders of the LRB Homeowners Association (HOA). The activity aimed to strengthen the children's understanding of disaster risks, environmental stewardship, and their important role in building safer and more resilient communities.

Through interactive learning methods, participants were encouraged to share their experiences, express their ideas, and identify practical actions they can take to reduce disaster risks in their homes and communities.

Participants engaged in a Disaster Drawing Activity, where they illustrated hazards and disasters they had experienced or imagined. Through their drawings and the subsequent group discussions, the children identified various hazards affecting their communities, including typhoons, flooding, storm surges, earthquakes, fires, volcanic eruptions, tornadoes, and human-induced hazards.

To further enrich the discussion, the children watched educational videos on disaster preparedness and environmental protection, followed by a reflection session in which they shared important lessons on proper waste management, tree planting, and environmental conservation as effective ways to reduce disaster risks. Participants also took part in role-playing activities that simulated different emergency situations, including typhoons, earthquakes, fires, and heat waves. These exercises promoted teamwork, critical thinking, and preparedness by allowing the children to demonstrate appropriate responses during emergencies.

The activity is part of COM project to promote DRR, CCA and environmental protection among youth as future stewards of the Earth. It concluded with a Community Action Poster-Making Session, where participants worked in groups to answer the question, "As a child, what can I do to help?" Their posters reflected a strong sense of responsibility and environmental awareness, highlighting actions such as proper waste disposal, avoiding littering in rivers and canals, planting trees, participating in community clean-up drives, preparing emergency go-bags, and working together to help keep their communities clean, safe, and resilient.

Representatives from the Community Organizers Multiversity - CO Multiversity (COM) and leaders of the Ugnayang Lakas ng mga Asosasyon at Pederasyon na Kumikilos sa Usapin ng mga Maralita sa NCR at Rizal (ULAP)- Quezon City and Pasig City participated in the Call for a Just and Ecological State of the Nation Address (SONA) 2026, organized in partnership with the Philippine Misereor Partnership. (PMPI) and joined by various civil society organizations (CSOs), people's organizations (POs), and sectoral networks. Held alongside the 2026 State of the Nation Address, the gathering provided a platform for communities and advocacy groups to collectively call for policies that promote social justice, environmental sustainability, and people-centered development.

Representatives from diverse sectors presented their shared advocacies on pressing social, economic, and environmental issues confronting communities across the country.

One of the central calls of the gathering was the immediate passage of the Rights of Nature Bill, which seeks to recognize and protect the inherent rights of nature to exist, flourish, and regenerate. Participants emphasized that protecting ecosystems is fundamental to addressing the climate crisis, conserving biodiversity, and ensuring the well-being and resilience of communities, particularly those most vulnerable to environmental degradation and climate-related disasters.
