PHICNA Inc. successfully conducted its Strategic Planning together with our dedicated officers, esteemed advisers and chapter presidents.This important gathering was more than just a meeting—it was a collective effort to envision the future of our organization and strengthen our mission of service, innovation, and collaboration.

Over the course of the planning session, we:

• Identified key challenges and opportunities in the healthcare landscape.

PHICNA INC at I.M.P.A.C.T 2026!

Congratulations to Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital Infection Prevention Control and Epidemiology Surveillance Unit, together with PSMID Central Luzon, and all the organizers for the successful and truly impactful IMPACT Summit: Integrating Multidisciplinary Practices, Advancing Competency, and Transforming Infection Prevention and Control held last July 30,2026!

PHICNA Inc. is honored to have been part of this milestone event, with our President Mr. Ricardo P. Corado, R.N. joining distinguished experts from DOH-HFDB, PHICS, and PSMID Central Luzon Chapter in the Panel Discussion: “Transforming Responsive IPC Systems: Leaders’ Perspectives on Strengthening Monitoring, Collaboration, and Resilience.”

During the discussion, PHICNA Inc. addressed vital questions on:

• Leadership in IPC and its role in shaping organizational culture and strategic decision-making
• Empowering future IPC nurse leaders across the country
• Advocating for a stronger IPC workforce to ensure every hospital has qualified and supported IPC professionals

📣 PHICNA Online Basic Competency Training Course for Infection Control Nurses for October batch is now open for registration!

The Philippine Hospital Infection Control Nurses Association (PHICNA), Inc. will be conducting its:

ONLINE BASIC COMPETENCY TRAINING COURSE FOR INFECTION CONTROL NURSES
🗓 October 5-30, 2026
💻 Via Google Classroom
💰 Registration Fee: PHP 4,000.00
✅ PRC CPD : Applied

This training program is offered to all designated Infection Prevention and Control Nurses and IPC Link Nurses. It aims to build competencies in infection prevention and control practices and enhance skills in implementing IPC policies, programs, and activities in their respective workplaces.

📌 Registration Requirements:
Participants must register and submit a copy of their hospital designation as IPC Nurse or IPC Link through this online form:

Once eligibility is verified, participants will receive a confirmation email with the payment process and further instructions.

📌 Important Reminders:
• PHICNA can accommodate only 150 participants
• A maximum of five (5) participants per hospital will be accepted
• No reservations shall be allowed

• A DOH Department Circular for OB/OT has been requested
• CPD units applied

✅ Course Completion Requirements:
• Attendance to the opening, workshop session, and closing ceremonies
• Completion of the self-paced training course
• Completion of all Post-Module Quizzes
• Passing rate of at least 75% in the Post-Course Examination
• Submission of Workplace Application Plan
• Submission of training course evaluation

PHICNA INC Continuous Commitment to Infection Prevention and Control

On July 28, 2026, the Department of Health (DOH) – Center for Health Development CALABARZON successfully organized and conducted the Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases IPC Training for IPC point persons of Batangas, held at the Ramada Hotel.

The program was honored by the inspiring Message of Support from our National President, Mr. Ricardo Corado RN, who reminded participants that “infection prevention is not just a technical skill, but a commitment to safeguarding lives, protecting communities, and upholding the integrity of our healthcare system.” His words emphasized the vital role of IPC point persons as the frontliners of safety, ensuring hospitals,RHUs remain places of healing, not sources of harm.

We also recognize the PHICNA Inc. Timog Katagalugan Chapter Officers, who served as speakers and shared their expertise in strengthening infection prevention practices.

This training reflects PHICNA’s unwavering mission: to empower healthcare professionals with knowledge, collaboration, and dedication—ensuring safer hospitals and healthier communities.

In Loving Memory of Ma’am Gloria Donatila “Dottie” R. Esplanada

On behalf of PHICNA Inc, we extend our deepest condolences to the family of Ma’am Dottie.

We honor and thank her for being one of the strongest pillars of support during the early, struggling years of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) in the Philippines. Her dedication and vision were instrumental in shaping the standards and national policy of infection control that continue to safeguard countless patients and healthcare workers today.

Her legacy of compassion, leadership, and excellence will live on in every ward, every hospital, and every life touched by the principles she helped establish.

Rest in peace, Ma’am Dottie. Your impact on infection control in our country will never be forgotten.

Healthcare facilities are likewise encouraged to review their infection prevention and control policies based on local risk assessments while maintaining safe and sustainable practices.

July 11, 2016- Philippine Hospital Infection Control Nurses Association (PHICNA) Inc. proudly joined the 6th Surgical Infection Prevention and Awareness (SIPA) Conference, organized by the Philippine Surgical Infection Society (PSIS) in collaboration with the Philippine Society of Colon and Re**al Surgeons, the Philippine College of Surgeons, and the Perioperative Registered Nurses Association of the Philippines (ORNAP) Inc.

Representing PHICNA Inc., Mr. Ricardo P. Corado, R.N., National President, delivered a message of support, underscoring the importance of precision, partnership, and teamwork in the prevention of surgical site infections. He was also joined by some of PHICNA’s dedicated officers and advisers, whose presence reflects the strength of our partnerships and shared mission.

His remarks reaffirmed PHICNA’s commitment to advancing patient safety and strengthening collaboration across surgical and perioperative teams and most importantly Infection Prevention and Control!
