𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗰𝘆: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗔𝗪𝗔 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗟𝗔𝗪𝗔 𝗣𝗛 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆

The pioneering 𝗟𝗔𝗪𝗔 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 was developed in Thailand by visionaries Dr. Banchob Sripa and Dr. Sirikachorn Tangkawattana (Dr. Jorn) of the Tropical Disease Research Center, Khon Kaen University laying the foundation for an integrated 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 to disease prevention.

In 2023, this innovation reached a new horizon through the 𝘓𝘈𝘞𝘈 𝘔𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘭 𝘖𝘯𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦, co-led by Chevron and Southeast Asia One Health University Network, empowering 234 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙥𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 40 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨. From this global cohort, 114 𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙪𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙨 𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙜𝙚𝙙, and 23 𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙥𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙨 including 8 𝙁𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙤𝙨 were selected for an immersive field experience in Khon Kaen, Thailand.

Representing the Philippines, Ms. Ten Sandoval was one of only two biologists in a select delegation predominantly composed of veterinary medicine experts, bringing a distinct biological and interdisciplinary perspective to the One Health collaboration that helped shape the LAWA PH journey.

From the 𝗟𝗔𝗪𝗔 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗢𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗽 in Khon Kaen, Thailand the foundation of LAWA PH was born through firsthand experience, collaboration, and learning.

• 2024 | 𝙂𝙡𝙤𝙗𝙖𝙡 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢
The journey continued at the SEAOHUN International Conference in Chiang Mai, Thailand where 𝗟𝗔𝗪𝗔 𝗣𝗛 shared early insights on localized One Health application.

• 2025 | 𝙄𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝘽𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙠𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝
A defining milestone was reached with the official launch of the 𝗟𝗔𝗪𝗔 𝗣𝗛 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 in Manila, Philippines transforming experience into a structured framework for community action.

• 2026 | 𝘼 𝙁𝙪𝙡𝙡-𝘾𝙞𝙧𝙘𝙡𝙚 𝙈𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩
Today in Khon Kaen, Thailand history comes full circle standing with the 𝗟𝗔𝗪𝗔 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗔𝗪𝗔 𝗣𝗛 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀, symbolizing connection, continuity, and shared purpose across nations.

Now in the 𝟯𝗿𝗱 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗔𝗪𝗔 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹, alongside the 2𝙣𝙙 𝘽𝙖𝙩𝙘𝙝 𝙤𝙛 𝙛𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙁𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙤 𝙙𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙜𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙨, selected from 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣 90 𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙨 including Ms. Kristel Joy Cada the journey continues, building stronger networks, deeper collaboration, and sustained One Health impact.

A proud milestone for our 𝗟𝗔𝗪𝗔 𝗣𝗛 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿, Mr. Ryan V. Labana, together with his PhD adviser, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗡𝗶𝗸𝗸𝗶 𝗛𝗲𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗔. 𝗗𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗰, at the 𝙈𝙈𝙃𝙍𝘿𝘾 10𝙩𝙝 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙎𝙮𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙪𝙢 & 17𝙩𝙝 𝘼𝙣𝙣𝙪𝙖𝙡 𝙎𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙘 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚, themed“𝘕𝘦𝘸 𝘍𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘌𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘺 𝘔𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦.”

Representing the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (Official) and the University of Santo Tomas, their work stood out among leading scientific contributions in the field.

Hello, June! 🌟 As they reminisce on their journey from 3 years ago, what a full-circle moment!

Huge congratulations to Ms. Ten Sandoval (NU MOA) and Ms. Dale Krstal (Central Luzon State University) for being selected for the 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗚𝗮𝗱𝗷𝗮𝗵 𝗠𝗮𝗱𝗮 𝗩𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲: 𝗚𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲! 🐾

Their journey together is truly special. Both are proud alumni of the 𝗟𝗔𝗪𝗔 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 and graduates of the 𝗟𝗔𝗪𝗔 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗢𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗽, funded by Chevron and Southeast Asia One Health University Network and held in Khon Kaen, Thailand, from May 31 to June 2, 2023. Exactly three years ago, they stood out as the 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙩𝙬𝙤 𝘽𝙞𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙨 among a cohort largely composed of Veterinary Medicine professionals. Though they pursued different academic paths, they both successfully completed their 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 (𝗠𝗦) degrees last year, Ms. Corpuz from Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand, and Ms. Sandoval from University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines. 🎓✨ Their inspiring journey reflects the power of interdisciplinary collaboration and the enduring impact of the One Health approach. 🌏🐾

Fast forward to today, and these two remarkable scientists are meeting again, this time in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, to advance wildlife conservation, health, and welfare together! ✈️🇮🇩

SEAOHUN is THRILLED to announce the nine winning teams of the SEAOHUN 2026 Regional Student Competition: One Health Campus-to-Community (OH-C2C) Challenge! — a region-wide initiative empowering university students to lead community-based projects at the intersection of human, animal, and environmental health.

In collaboration with member universities across Southeast Asia and associate countries India and Bangladesh, and made possible through the funding support of Chevron and in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the OH-C2C Challenge invited student teams to propose innovative, community-driven One Health solutions. Nine exceptional teams rose to the top — and we couldn't be prouder!
