Stronger farm-to-market connectivity helps strengthen the entire agriculture value chain.

The Department of Agriculture - Philippines has approved over ₱2.06 billion in farm-to-market road and bridge projects nationwide—an important step in improving access, lowering transport costs, and helping farmers and fisherfolk bring their produce more efficiently to market.

For PSIA, investments in infrastructure, together with quality seeds and sound agricultural support systems, are vital to building a more resilient and food-secure Philippines.

The Department of Agriculture has announced a ₱250-M fund to further strengthen seed reserve facilities in the country, following the inauguration of the refurbished National Seed Reserve Facility at the BPI Compound in Quezon City.

With a capacity of up to 9,000 bags of agricultural seeds, the facility is expected to help ensure seed availability, support planting cycles, and strengthen the country’s preparedness during calamities.

The Philippine Seed Industry Association (PSIA) joined the Department of Agriculture - Philippines – Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) in the launching of the National Seed Reserve Facility today at the BPI Compound in Quezon City.

PSIA Vice President Julius Barcelona represented the association and expressed PSIA’s support for this important initiative aimed at strengthening the country’s seed security, agricultural resilience, and food security.

The National Seed Reserve Facility will serve as a centralized storage and strategic repository for quality seeds, helping ensure their long-term preservation and timely availability for regular planting programs, disaster response, rehabilitation efforts, and other priority government initiatives.

PSIA remains committed to supporting programs that safeguard the country’s seed resources and promote a more resilient agricultural sector.

The country emphasized that climate integration in agriculture must be fair, adaptation-centered, and responsive to local realities, ensuring that environmental goals do not compromise food production or create additional burdens for developing nations.

East-West Seed and the Dutch Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines Inc. - DCCP honored Dr. Sayoc at a Career Milestone Reception held at the Residence of the Ambassador of the Embassy of the Netherlands in the Philippines, recognizing her more than 26 years of service with East-West Seed, her leadership in strengthening agricultural partnerships, and her continued support for farmers in the Philippines and beyond.
