Progress grows through consistent work and shared commitment.

For 50 years, PSIA and its members have supported Philippine agriculture by promoting access to high-quality seeds, increasing variety awareness, sharing technical knowledge, and strengthening the capabilities of seed industry professionals.

PSIA has also helped bring government institutions, industry partners, researchers, and communities together in support of Filipino farmers.

These are the seeds of progress that have shaped PSIA’s journey and will continue to guide its work in the years ahead.

Throwback: The first PSIA Seedmen’s Update Course 🌱

Even in its early years, PSIA understood that seeds perform best when supported by the right knowledge.

Through seed caravans, field demonstrations, harvest festivals, seminars, and technology updates, PSIA and its members have helped farmers learn more about vegetable varieties and improved production practices.

These opportunities bring knowledge closer to the field, where farmers can observe, ask questions, exchange experiences, and make more informed decisions for their farms.

For 50 years, PSIA has believed that knowledge, like a good seed, is meant to be shared.

For five decades, Filipino farmers have been at the center of PSIA’s purpose.

El Niño is expected to intensify into a Super El Niño.

According to DOST-PAGASA, El Niño is already present and may become very strong toward the end of 2026, with its effects possibly continuing into early 2027.

For the agricultural community, hotter and drier conditions can mean water shortages, moisture-stressed crops, delayed planting, and lower yields. However, El Niño does not mean there will be no rain. Tropical cyclones, the Habagat, and localized thunderstorms may still bring sudden heavy rainfall and flooding.

When conditions shift to La Niña, farmers may face the opposite challenge: prolonged rain, waterlogged fields, crop diseases, soil erosion, and damage to farm structures.

Both climate patterns remind us that agriculture must be ready for extremes. Now is the time to understand El Niño, monitor official advisories, and prepare for its possible effects on agriculture.
