A fun night was had by many at last night’s Toastmasters meeting! With the theme being "Warm or Cold" 🔥

The evening featured a HOT Table Topics session, two excellent prepared speeches from members Lisa and Kawana, and our Word of the Night - Tepid - which was enthusiastically used by members throughout the meeting. Special mention to our Grammarian Michael, who always keeps us laughing - you never quite know what he’s going to come up with! 😆

The meeting was expertly run by our Toastmaster Spence - a hot-to-trot evening from start to finish!

🏆 Best Table Topic: Matt🏆 Best Speech: Kawana🏆 Best Evaluation: Gina

Congratulations to all our winners and participants for making it such a fantastic night.

If you’re reading this and would like to know more, send us a message or come along to a meeting! We meet on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7pm at 222A Maunu Road.

"We all start somewhere - make Toastmasters your starting point if you’d like to grow both personally and professionally through communication, confidence, and leadership."

Highlights from the Toastmasters 2026 Conference 🎤✨
A big highlight for N1 Division — Whangarei Toastmasters proudly brought home 3rd place in the Table Topics contest. Congratulations to Jeannet Penney! 👏
A special mention to Robin Grieve, who masterfully MC’d the entire conference, and to Spence Penney for delivering the test speech for the Humorous Contest — fantastic contributions from both!
The award for most distance travelled went to Northern Impromptu — well done to a truly committed team! 🚗💪
Northern Impromptu member Howard Chaffey achieved a great result in the Table Topic contest winning second place representing his other club Flying start.
A heartfelt thank you to all N1 members, and especially Whangarei Toastmasters, who came along to support. And it seems a fair share of raffle prizes made their way back up North too! 🎁😄
What a great conference and a wonderful showing from our northern clubs!

Meet Lisa - and hear how finding her voice changed everything.

"In 2024, I walked into Whangarei Toastmasters Club not knowing what to expect… and was welcomed into a supportive, growth-focused community.
I joined to improve my speaking and leadership skills—but gained so much more. My confidence has grown, my stress has reduced, and my communication and relationships have improved in ways I never imagined.
This year, I stepped into the role of Club President—an incredible opportunity to lead in a safe and encouraging environment."

Lisa’s journey is proof of what can happen when you step outside your comfort zone.
👉 If you’re ready to grow, connect, and challenge yourself—Toastmasters could be exactly what you need.
