This Volunteer Week (14–20 June), we’re taking a moment to recognise and celebrate the incredible volunteers of North Haven Hospice.

Across our community, our volunteers give their time, energy, and compassion in so many ways: helping in our shops, assisting in our in-patient unit, providing companionship, life reflections, compassionate touch massage, transport, respite and standing alongside our care teams.

We are deeply grateful to every North Haven Hospice volunteer for the difference you make every single day. Your generosity helps ensure our care can remain free for those who need it, and your impact is felt by every person we support.

The team at Henderson Reeves Lawyers are getting involved in A Taste to Remember, bringing staff together across their Whangārei and Auckland offices to share dishes that hold special meaning and the memories behind them.

By hosting an event to share food, memories, and a few laughs along the way, Henderson Reeves are also helping raise funds for North Haven Hospice and the care we provide to local patients and whānau.

Thank you to the Henderson Reeves team for supporting A Taste to Remember and showing how meaningful a simple shared meal can be.

People talk about a “perfect storm”, and NZ hospices are facing theirs now with our national population aging and more shortfalls in funding than ever.

North Haven Hospice needs to raise about $4 million a year to cover all our costs – most of which is for the doctors, nurses and family support teams who do all the specialist care and support you need.

That's about $12,000 a day to make up the gap and keep our services free of charge for all who need it.

A big thank you to Mitre 10 MEGA Whangārei for enabling us to upgrade our outdoor area for people at North Haven Hospice, through the "Helping Hands" community initiative.
