Capital Harmony Chorus

Capital Harmony Chorus Capital Harmony Chorus is a female, acapella barbershop group, singing in the Wellington Region. We meet every Monday night at 7.30 pm.

From 13 April 2026 we will be based at Churton Park Community Centrem 75 Lakewood Ave Churton Park. . Women singing Accapella in the Barbershop style!

Oh my goodness, we've been so busy we forgot to tell you we are singing twice at the Upper Hutt Spring Festival on Saturday 12 September!
11.30am outside the ANZ bank (intersection of Main and Geange)
12.30pm inside (or possibly outside if its warm) St Josephs Church on Pine St corner.
The church is usually where the tea and scones are, so we are having a social get together there afterwards.
We've sung at this event since it started and have only missed a couple of years due to performance clashes.
Come along and support Upper Hutt Womens Centre and us at the same time - two for one deal!

June 22 chorus night was ended in great fashion by Calypso Quartet, singing The Calypso Carol.
If you've never heard it, the words "which way to" occur many, many times - and the song is an absolute earworm!
Both Carol and Helen have been trying out tenor in our random quartets but it was Carol's turn that night.

We performed at Summerset at Aotea back in May to a great audience from the apartments and villas. They did an excellent version of the Rock N Tag with us and afterwards I was told we could have done even more of that! 😁

We had the Kings Birthday off but were back in full voice on 8 June with Mary at the helm and Jean supporting. Our performance group that week were Carol, Christine, Helen, Wendy and Jean, who was kindly standing in for Lizzie at short notice. Reliable sources told me they did a lovely version of The Irish Blessing.
15 June saw the start of our newest song and some solid work on character and movement for some older songs. It also featured the Snowflake Maidens with a season appropriate round called The First Snow Falls.

Our Random Quartet generator kept rolling in May and created The Early Christmas Belles, who sang Holly Jolly. Jolly good work from Jenny, Janet, Karen, Mary, Jackie and Helen.
The last May rehearsal featured the Harmony Collagers who sang, ah, the Harmony collage tag. Sorry no photos Carol, Dileeni, Ginny, Joanne and Beth. We had part swapsies so Carol sang tenor and Beth sang bari, after which she said "never again" but I'm sure she doesn't mean it, right Beth Manning?
