QuakeCoRE Student Chapter Wellington held its first social gathering of the year! ๐ŸŽ‰

The event focused on welcoming our new members and introducing the 2026 committee. It was wonderful to see student members from the Joint Centre for Disaster Research (Massey University) and Victoria University of Wellington come together to connect and build new friendships.

The evening was a great success, filled with engaging conversations, delicious pizza, and fun games. ๐Ÿ•๐ŸŽฒ

A big thank you to QuakeCoRE: NZ Centre for Earthquake Resilience for supporting students in organising these activities. We truly appreciate your continued support.

The chapter looks forward to hosting many more events throughout the year to help students grow their knowledge, strengthen networks, and, of course, have some fun along the way!

QuakeCoRE Wellington Chapter Writing Retreat at Waikanae ๐ŸŒŠ

The students from the QuakeCoRE Wellington Chapter recently attended a two-day writing retreat in Waikanae, a perfect blend of learning, reflection, and connection โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿค

Throughout the retreat, students dedicated time to reading and writing, strengthening their academic and creative skills. But it wasnโ€™t all about writing! The retreat also provided opportunities to enhance communication, teamwork, and personal growth.

A special thank you to Alicia Cui from the Joint Centre for Disaster Research (JCDR New Group) for facilitating a highly interactive session on relationship building. Students explored the fundamental values of relationships and self-awareness, engaging in open discussions and reflective activities. The retreat concluded with a lively debate on the advantages and disadvantages of AI, a timely and thought-provoking topic in todayโ€™s world ๐Ÿค–

Beyond the academic focus, students enjoyed some well-deserved relaxation, exploring the beautiful Waikanae beaches and connecting in an inspiring environment ๐Ÿ–๏ธ๐ŸŒ…

It was truly another successful and memorable event for our chapter, filled with learning, laughter, and collaboration! ๐Ÿ’ซ
