💚 Thank You from Taumarunui Youth & Community Trust 💚
As the year comes to a close, we, the Board of the Taumarunui Youth & Community Trust, want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has been part of our journey this year.
It has been a big year, and at times a challenging one. Like many in our community, we have felt the impact of loss, change, and uncertainty. Our most significant heartbreak was the passing of our Chairperson, co-founder, and dear friend, Kyra Leatuafi.
Kyra wasn’t just our Chairperson, she was the co-founder of TYCT. What many don’t realise is that the vision for TYCT began 17 years ago, long before the trust officially existed. For more than eight of those years, Kyra and Amy led the groundwork before officially establishing the trust in 2016, spending countless hours planning, shaping, and building the vision for a kaupapa that would uplift rangatahi and strengthen our community. This wasn’t a quick or easy journey. It was eight years of groundwork, conversations, planning sessions, paperwork, and perseverance, all driven by the belief that Taumarunui deserved a youth-focused trust that truly served its people.
TYCT stands today because of her leadership, her passion, and her unwavering commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for our young people. Her legacy continues to guide every decision we make and every programme we deliver.
Despite the challenges, we are incredibly grateful for the support we have received from our volunteers, schools, coaches, officials, whānau, funders, and community partners. Every event run, every activity delivered, and every young person supported has been a team effort.
Looking ahead to 2026, we are excited for what’s to come. It will be another action-packed year, with new projects and opportunities on the horizon, and a continued focus on supporting rangatahi and strengthening our community through sport, recreation, and connection.
To everyone who has taken part in activities, supported someone in sport, volunteered their time, or backed our kaupapa in any way, thank you. Your support keeps TYCT moving forward.
We hope you all have a safe and restful break with your whānau and loved ones. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Ngā mihi nui,
