Last week Taumarunui Community Kokiri Trust was fortunate to host our second Immunisation Wānanga in Te Kūiti.

He mihi nui ki a Te Korapatū Pā for hosting our manuhiri. We discussed the lived realities of whānau, and heard stories of the impacts of infectious diseases on our kaumātua and their whānau.

Anō, he mihi ka tika ki a Te Tōkanganui-a-Noho. We also visited Te Kūiti Pā, to learn the history of how the marae was transformed into a hospital during the influenza pandemic during the early 20th century, to serve the wider rural comunity of the time.

Mei kore ake ko koutou ka kore hoki mātou e taea ana te mahi i ngā mahi. E Ngāti Peehi, Ngāti Te Kanawa me Ngāti Rora, tēnei te reo whakamiha e paoro kau atu ana ki a koutou katoa.

What an incredible day and evening at the Te Ara Toa Festival and Talent Show, held at the Les Munro event centre in Te Kuiti on the weekend. From fun activities, games, and karaoke during the day, through to the spectacular Talent Show Finale, in the evening! The atmosphere was electric!!
Kokiri Trust in partnership with No.12 Rangatahi, and Waitomo District Council Kaimahi, were all out in force, many wearing their designer Te Ara Toa t-shirts, welcoming whanau, and community members. It was great to see Kokiri Trust CEO Christine Brears supporting the kaupapa. She opened the event with a heartfelt korero, then joined in the festivities alongside our rangatahi on the day.
A special highlight, was the evening talent show, where finalists took to the stage in front of a huge crowd, to showcase their talents!!
The support, enthusiasm, and pride shown by whanau and the community made for a truly memorable occasion!
Go team Kokiri an amazing event!!
