🟣 Elder Abuse Awareness Week | 15–22 June 2026 🟣

Te Ahi Kaa stands alongside whānau, kaumaatua, and communities across Aotearoa in recognising Elder Abuse Awareness Week.

Our kaumaatua are the keepers of knowledge, culture, and whakapapa. They deserve to be treated with dignity, respect, and aroha. Elder abuse can take many forms, including physical, emotional, financial, neglect, or social isolation, and often occurs behind closed doors.

This week we encourage our community to:

💜 Check in on our kaumātua
💜 Listen and support without judgement
💜 Speak up if something doesn’t seem right
💜 Promote mana, safety, and respect for our elders

Together, we can help create communities where our kaumaatua feel valued, protected, and connected.

“He taonga ngā kaumaatua – our elders are treasures.”

If you or someone you know needs support, help is available 24/7:

Men’s Health Week 15-21 June 2026 💙

Your Health is Wealth.

Bro, you show up for work. You show up for whānau. You show up for your mates.
But when’s the last time you checked in with a mate?

This week is about 3 simple things:
CHECK IN WITH A MATE - Text him. Call him. “You good bro?” 2 minutes can change a day.
SHOW UP - Move your body. Even 10min walk counts. Be present for the people who need you.
SPEAK UP - Talk about it. Stress, grief, anxiety. You don’t have to carry it alone.

At Te Ahi Kā we know hauora is more than just tinana. It’s hinengaro, whānau, wairua too.

You’re needed. You’re loved. You’re worth looking after.

Men’s Health Week 15-21 June 💙

“Move More. Stress Less. Be Present.”

For many tāne, we carry the weight of whānau on our shoulders. But we can’t show up for them if we’re running on empty.

This week at Te Ahi Kā we’re talking about the basics that make the biggest difference:
1. Regular check-ups - Book that GP visit you’ve been putting off
2. Daily movement - Walk, train, play with the kids. Just move
3. Mental wellness - Talk. Breathe. Ask for help.

Our Men’s Health Week podcast part 1 of the series on YouTube channel, with real kōrero from tāne, for tāne.

Look after yourself. You’re needed. You’re loved.

Men’s Health Week 15-21 June 💚
Hauora through Te Whare Tapa Whā.

For tāne, wellbeing isn’t just one thing. It’s all 4 walls:
Taha Tinana - Get moving, eat well, sleep enough
Taha Hinengaro - Talk about it, ask for help, check in
Taha Whānau - Stay connected, be present, show up
Taha Wairua - Find purpose, get outdoors, be grounded

Look after yourself, bro. And look after your mates too.
