Ngati Toa sea scout group camp at Brookfield Scout Camp. School of rock for keas cubs scouts and venturers.
Amazing weekend of fun, laughter and adventure.
And in typical Wellington fashion. Every type of weather.

This week our Venturers took on charity cooking. They made around 30 portions of butter chicken and rice for Kurakai, an organisation who distribute meals to schools for kids and families in need. Locally, some of these schools include Mana College, Bishop Viard, and Porirua College.

The Wellington branch of RoomMate Cabins recently and very generously supported our scouts by sponsoring our sausage sizzle at Pak n Save where we were fundraising for New Zealand Scout Jamboree.

We are so grateful for your support Malcolm and team! It was a really fun day, and those Gourmet HotDogs, mmmm mmmm!

You may have seen my post at Christmas when our den locks were filled with gunge.

Last week our door handle was snapped off.

I posted my frustration the first time on our page, and Alex from New Windows and Doors reached out and replaced our lock barrel for us.

This week he came out and replaced our door handle for us.

All this he has done on his own time at his own cost (including the cost of the replacements.

Thank you Rosie and Natalie (Parks and Education Advisor Porirua city council) and team for giving us the opportunity to be part of planting the Dune outside our den to protect our beaches.

A few weeks ago, the venturers spent a night picking up rubbish on our local beach.

As a sea scout group, we take great responsibility for and pride in the environment we work with. As a group, we picked up 8.2kg of rubbish over our 2 hour walk. The whole group is really proud of this effort, and we hope to make this a regular thing to do our part taking care of the environment.
