Our Kura Toa whānau is growing as we get closer to opening our doors in February 2027🌱

Yesterday we held a pōwhiri at Takapūwāhia Marae to formally welcome our Tumuaki Tuarua Rowan Taurima and Digital Learning Lead Aidan Dickens to the Kura Toa whānau.

It was a special day, and a beautiful way to mark the next chapter for Rowan, who was farewelled by her Aotea College colleagues alongside Te Kāhui Kuratea.

The pōwhiri was also a reminder that while Kura Toa is firmly Ngāti Toa-focused and grounded in our identity, we’re connected to something bigger. Inside Toa Rangatira our wharenui at Takapūwāhia Marae, the representation of waka across the motu reflects the many connections and relationships that bring us together.

As we grow our Kura Toa whānau, we’re looking forward to welcoming tamariki and whānau from across our rohe.

❗️ RĀHUI TĪTAHI BAY BEACH ❗️

Following the passing of a person at the southern end of Tītahi Bay Beach, at the boat sheds, a rāhui has been placed by Ngāti Toa from the South end of the beach to the North entrance. This rāhui will be in place until Thursday, 8 October. Our thoughts are with the whānau at this time.
