Born and raised in Cannons Creek, Eteroa Lafaele is a proud Pasifika tech leader, Young New Zealander of the Year, Forbes 30 Under 30 for Social Impact, NZ Hi-Tech Young Achiever awardee and is now adding published author to her list of accolades! ๐๐
Eteroa has written a children's book, Ete Fixes the Glitch, inspired by her decade of experience in tech community workshops and her own upbringing.
The book is all part of Eteroas mission for digital equity, providing access to our community and children through various offerings including through her business, Fibre Fale.
Rather than being sold at bookstores, Ete fixes the Glitch will be gifted to children across the country.
"This initiative serves as a gift for my 30th birthday and Fibre Fale's third birthday. Our mission is to distribute this book throughout Porirua, South Auckland, and the wider motu."
The book will be launched at an event at Cannons Creek Library on Saturday 8 November, a place close to her heart.
"Cannons Creek is my hometown, the place where my dreams began and ultimately led me to where I am today. It's home, and I want to give back to the community. When I was in college, I often studied for my end-of-year exams at the Cannons Creek Library โ it's a small but mighty place."
The launch event will celebrate Pacific excellence and voices in tech - showing our tamariki that they can dream big, create boldly, and fix any glitch that comes their way.
Itโs all happening from 12pm, Saturday 8 November and will no doubt be popular, so registration is required.
