Supporting Mental Health in Our Communities 💙

Mental health needs continue to place growing pressure on our health and emergency services, with ambulance teams responding to an increasing number of complex and time-consuming mental health callouts.

This is an important reminder that **mental health is just as important as physical health**. Reaching out early, checking in on one another, and ensuring people know where they can access support can make a real difference.

At Vaka Atafaga Pacific Nursing Service, we encourage our families and communities to continue having open conversations about mental wellbeing and to seek support when it is needed. 🌺

Our team had a wonderful time celebrating Uike Lea Faka-Tonga – Tongan Language Week! 🎉

A special thank you to one of our amazing colleagues who prepared a fun celebration for everyone to enjoy. It was a fantastic opportunity to come together, learn, share some laughs, and celebrate the beauty of the Tongan language and culture.

Our Fanau Manuia Team had the opportunity to speak at theWelfed’s “Pepi Me Mama” programme,

It was great to connect with the mamas, meet other passionate community workers, and learn more about the safe and welcoming space Welfed has created for families.

We look forward to continuing to connect and work alongside the community ☺️

Kia ora everyone,

Our vehicle was vandalised last night while parked behind our building, in front of the Porirua Courts. The windscreen was smashed, and the vehicle is now unable to be used.

We are a charitable Trust, and damage to our vehicles impacts our ability to visit and support our patients in the community.

If anyone saw anything or has any information about what happened, we would really appreciate your support.

Today our team was privileged to be part of the Equally Well Event – Te Whanganui-a-Tara, at Te Rauparaha Arena, supporting better access to physical health information for tāngata whaiora and whānau.

It was a great opportunity to connect with communities, strengthen relationships with services and partners, and contribute to the shared kaupapa of equity, collaboration, and mental wellbeing for our pacific wellbeing.
