Workshops are well underway for Waiheke Youth Theatre Festival! 26 lucky youth have written their plays and are being guided by tutors and mentors through the process of bringing them to life. Were you inspired by something you saw at the Solo Theatre Festival? 🎭

Expressions of Interest are now open for the Waiheke Short Play Festival this September!

Whether you’re a first-time writer, director, performer, have an idea that’s been sitting in your notes app, or you’re an experienced theatre maker ready to create something new - we’d love to hear from you.

This festival is for both new and established artists, and you don’t need to arrive with a finished script or a full plan. If you’ve got a spark of an idea, put it forward - don’t be shy!

Take the first step from idea to stage and join us in celebrating local storytelling on Waiheke.

Last night, this lucky pool of improvisers enjoyed the Living is Like workshop, led by the talented Andrea Ferpo, teaching us all the way from Peru.

The method dives deep into metaphor, using experiences of living to weave together scenes on growing up, falling in love, losing something, and growing older - all borne from audience suggestions.

6 of these friendly faces will be performing on stage tonight at 7:30pm, bringing a truly unique night of improv to the audience.

✨ Living is Like is an unscripted theatre experience where metaphors become stories, and everyday emotions turn into unexpected, funny, heartfelt scenes.

Directed by Peruvian improviser Andrea Ferpo, this unique show blends humour, vulnerability, and imagination to create theatre that’s completely alive in the moment. No two performances will ever be the same.

Expect laughter, recognition, surprise, and moments that hit close to home.
