Walks on Waiheke (WoW)

Walks on Waiheke (WoW) Wow is all about getting people out exploring the breathtaking Walks on Waiheke. The chief walk guide and founder of WoW is Janine James.

It's about facilitating and instilling the "Wow" factor so that people will gain confidence to return and explore more for themselves. Walks on Waiheke (Wow) was originally known as Real walks waiheke, an Auckland Council initiative that establishes walknotes, maps and free guided walks on Waiheke Island, Auckland, NZ. As the council sponsored free walks grew in popularity the next step for Counci

l and Real walks was to create the Waiheke Walking Festival. From its first successful event in 2010 with over 500 walkers the event continues annually every October. Government funding has now been approved to make Waiheke a great walk, "the" walk for Auckland city. Walkways and signage will continue to improve over the next few years so that you can walk the whole island. With over 20 years experience in guiding, interpretation of the New Zealand environment and group facilitation she is by far the best person to show you the WoW factor! Janine is a professional walk guide and retired park ranger she runs a small business as a researcher, writer, photographer and guide and is passionate about the outdoors and getting people out exploring what Waiheke has to offer.

What are your thoughts on wildlife and how it is affected by drought? Has anyone seen anything to suspect our fauna are suffering?
