Dark (but not at all gloomy!) in the park for our shortest day of the year parkrun yesterday 🖤

160 parkrunners
18 volunteers (including 5 who also participated! 💕)

A huuuuuge mihi for National Volunteer Week 👏 Te Wiki Tūao ā-Motu 🦺

So much aroha for our volunteers at Neale Park 🧡 parkrun can’t happen without you that’s true, but each week you go above and beyond to make it a fun and connected place to be!
Thank you for all that you do 🙌 We appreciate you and we have a great time with you Neale Park whānau!!

The theme for this year’s national celebration is "Your Year to Volunteer" – "Tōu tau ki te tūao" 🌅
There’s never any pressure or expectation to volunteer at parkrun, but if you’re thinking this is your year to volunteer at Neale park for the first time- we’d be thrilled for you to experience parkrun in a different (and enhanced!) way!
Some roles can be done as well as participating, they are all easy with full support given, and enable you to enjoy the parkrun vibes and give back at the same time

197 parkrunners, with a fair few visitors, a couple of brilliant milestones (💙 Nice effort Dawn and Tony!) … and a lot of black and bright yellow about!

Another week, another parkrun!!!! 🙌

We love being part of such an active region, and this Saturday we’re welcoming the crew from The Spectacle to join our amazing volunteers, and celebrate the 6 month countdown to another year of The Spectacle- a truly epic weekend of running here in Whakatū Nelson ⛰️

Whether you run a mile or a miler, kids, elites, runners, walkers, or Spectacle spectators- parkrun is for you too! 💚

🕗 7:50 first timers briefing, 8am start

Coffee at Founders Cafe afterwards as always! ☕️

Another Saturday and Nelson had the weather clear in time for the start of Neale Park parkrun Event #84, by the end of the morning we were bathed in Nelson Sunshine. 😎☀️ Conditions were great for an exercise start to the weekend.

We can't and won't claim that it was dry underfoot, as the start / finish path puddles made sure that all of the 148 runners and walkers had cool feet for the duration of the parkrun. 💦 We trust that the 21 first time visitors (including 12 First Timers) will be back to try again when the puddle is gone.

As always parkrun cannot go ahead without volunteers, and this morning 15 helpful people donned the heroes vests🦺🦺to make the event happen. Regular volunteer Julie took full ownership of her role as Atawhai marshal and got right into the cone theme. 🎉

All Nelson sports fields are closed due to the rain 🌧️ but thankfully we run on concrete! 🤪
