What a colourful and creative school holiday activity! 💛

Our clients and their whānau came together for a fun Canbead workshop, with a lovely mix of ages getting stuck in, sharing ideas and creating some beautiful pieces.

A big thank you to Amy and her team from CanBead Nelson for bringing along the creativity and making it such an enjoyable afternoon. We loved seeing everyone having fun together!

This generous provision stems from a heartfelt bequeath by David Blunt. His dedicated wish was to enhance access to skin checks for Nelson and Tasman residents using the funds he provided. We are profoundly grateful for David Blunt's enduring legacy.

💥 Cancer Society Nelson Tasman Skin Check Vouchers available today Thursday 1st October 2026! These vouchers, valued up to $100, can be used for a skin check at your GP or specialist provider*.

Thanks to a generous bequest from David Blunt, skin check vouchers are available to help make skin checks more accessible for people in the Nelson and Tasman regions. David’s gift is a lasting legacy, and we are truly grateful for his kindness and support.

*Please note: The $100 voucher is a partial contribution towards the total cost of your skin check. Be sure to check the full price with your health professional when booking your appointment. Valid until 31 March 2027 (no extensions).

We’re thrilled to have Nelson-based celebrant and MC Emma Helleur joining us for our Cancer Society Spring Charity Ball on Saturday 10 October at Rutherford Hotel Nelson.

Emma loves bringing people together and making events memorable. With her fun, vibrant personality and plenty of warmth, humour and energy, she’s the perfect person to help keep the evening flowing as we enjoy a great night of dinner, dancing, entertainment and our live auction.

Emma is also passionate about supporting our local community, and we’re delighted she’s getting behind the work of Cancer Society Nelson Tasman.

Today on World Cancer Research Day, we're celebrating the progress research has made possible.

Twenty years ago a cancer diagnosis often meant far fewer options and far less hope. Today, thanks to research, we can prevent cancer, find it earlier, and treat it better. According to the 2025 State of Cancer report, cancer deaths have dropped by 24% since 2001. But there is still work to do.

Progress doesn’t happen without funding the people doing the mahi and over the past decade the Cancer Society is proud to have invested over $50 million into cancer research across prevention, early detection, treatment, survivorship and end-of-life care.

Our new Research and Innovation Strategy builds on this work and sets out how we'll bring researchers, health services, and communities together so that discoveries reach the people who need them, faster and more fairly.

Every dollar invested in research brings us closer to a future free from cancer.

👋 Registrations are now officially open for Marathon in a Month 2026 - are you up for the challenge?

It only takes 1.4km a day of your chosen activity to complete a marathon in a month! Get active in November and support the Cancer Society - perfect for all ages and fitness levels.

If one marathon isn't enough of a challenge, why not push yourself to do two, or three, or even five!

Taking part in Marathon in a Month and fundraising for the cause directly helps those experiencing cancer in our region.

🚗🌼 What a result! We’re delighted to share the final tally from the Nelson Vintage Car Club Daffodil Rally for Cancer Show & Shine, held back in August.

$13,537.82 was raised for local cancer support! 💛

A huge thank you to the Nelson Vintage Car Club, the Moutere Hop crew, MS Ford Nelson, all the volunteers, car enthusiasts and everyone who came along, bought a raffle ticket, made a donation or simply enjoyed the day.

It was fantastic to see the community come together, and we’re so grateful for the support. These funds will help us continue providing free support to people impacted by cancer and their whānau across Nelson Tasman.
