GRATITUDE | A massive shout-out and endless gratitude to five true boxing stalwarts who stepped into the ring of service for Gloves Up for Gumboots:
Kevin Pyne – One of New Zealand’s top professional referees, Kevin brings the highest standard of integrity and safety to every bout.
Dave Kettle – A respected name in Australasian boxing circles, whose expertise and calm presence make all the difference behind the scenes.
Paul Fitzsimmons (Fitzy) – From his boxing days as Australasian lightweight champion (1960) and a standout amateur in NZ, Paul now gives his time and judgement to our cause.
Zane McDonald – A current NZ-based referee with deep experience (active since 2008) who keeps the action fair, square and safe.
Robert Revill – A veteran referee whose long career (1993-2024) reflects his passion and commitment to our sport.
Mike Pimley – A longstanding boxing club figure and judge who brings decades of experience to our event.
Between all of you, you’ve boxed over 700 fights, seen thousands of rounds, made countless decisions and moments that define the heart of boxing. Your willingness to give your time, your experience, your judgment and your integrity to our fundraiser means the world.
On behalf of Harcourts Nelson & Richmond, Victory Boxing, Nelson, New Zealand and every boxer, volunteer, sponsor and supporter at Gloves Up for Gumboots: Thank you. Your presence elevates this event. Your legacy inspires the next generation. And your support makes sure we fight not just in the ring — but for something bigger.
We’re honoured to have you with us, and we look forward to making this event one for the books.
With respect and thanks 🩵
