‼️Slow down, stay focused and wear seatbelts 🚨

The data speaks for itself... unsafe driving behaviours are a daily occurrence and that's just not ok.

In a two year period, along with Eastern District Police, we've observed 74,284 vehicles across Napier and Hastings at checkpoints.

The most commonly recorded unsafe behaviours:
🤳978 drivers using a phone
🔒723 drivers not wearing a seatbelt
🚗 270 speed infringements.

We know we can do better Hawke's Bay... Let's do better.

🚧 Real Talk. Real Learning. Real Impact.🚦

On Wednesday we took road safety straight to the students at Central Hawke’s Bay College in Waipukurau.

🚓 Police–led road safety session
🔄 11 hands on activities

From understanding impairment, seatbelts, and driver skills to seeing what really happens at a crash scene, students rotated through powerful, eye opening experiences designed to make road safety hit home — before they ever hit the road.

This is what prevention looks like.
This is how we change behaviour.
This is how we save lives.

Huge thanks to Central hawkes bay college for having us, Eastern District Police for their mahi, and everyone who helped make this Expo happen 🩵

👍 Thanks for stopping in travellers!

Shout out to everyone who stopped by the SH5 Mohaka Fatigue Stop on Friday. We had over 100 vehicles call in and take a break, a chat with our Eastern District Police and grab a quick coffee and a bite to eat before hitting the road again.

We had carloads from Thames, Waihi and more stop in on their way south for the long weekend. Lots of Aucklanders too (we see you big city dwellers coming down for a quiet getaway) 👀

Taking a break when you're tired is one of the easiest ways to reduce crash risk.
We hope everyone made it back home safely 🚗🏠

☕ Fatigue Stop Today – SH5 Southbound

If you're travelling southbound on SH5 today, stop in at the Mohaka Rest Stop near McVicar Road between 12pm and 3pm.

RoadSafe Hawke’s Bay and Police will be there with a BBQ, refreshments and a chance to take a safe break before continuing your journey.

A quick stop could make your trip safer 🚗💚

🚗 Fatigue stop for southbound drivers – SH5

Travelling south on SH5 for the long weekend?

RoadSafe Hawke’s Bay and Eastern District Police will be hosting a Fatigue Stop on Friday from 12pm – 3pm at the Mohaka Rest Stop near McVicar Road (southbound only).

Pop in, stretch your legs and take a break before continuing your journey.
We’ll have:
🔥 BBQ
☕ Refreshments
🚻 Portable toilet facilities

Driver fatigue is one of the hidden dangers on our roads – a short break can make a big difference!

Drive safe and arrive safely 🚗💚

Good morning it’s a beautiful day!!! here in Wairoa we are excited to be here with Kahanunu Executive and police at 130 Queen Street supporting the community, come get your car seats fitted and checked for FREE.
