💗 September Delivery Update 💗

Another month of making a difference, one meal at a time! 🥰🍽️

During September, our amazing Bellyful Hawke’s Bay volunteers delivered 162 meals to 36 whānau across our community. 💕

Behind every meal is a team of incredible volunteers, generous supporters, and kind-hearted people who help make what we do possible. Whether it’s cooking, packing, delivering, donating, or spreading the word, every little bit makes a difference. 🫶

We’re so grateful to everyone who continues to support Bellyful Hawke’s Bay and helps us provide a little extra love and support to whānau when they need it most. 💗

We're delighted to be part of Four Square Te Mata's "Here 4 Community" initiative this month alongside Re-Source and Te Mata Park

The purpose of this initiative is for Four Square Te Mata to support local organisations that make a real difference in our community while encouraging their customers to get involved in choosing where their support goes.

Here's how it works:
▶️ When you spend $30 or more in-store, you will receive a voting token
▶️ Place your token in the voting box for the community group you wish to support.
▶️ Four Square Te Mata will donate $1000 each month, split proportionally across the three organisations based on votes received.

A huge thank you to Rachel and Hamish and their team at Z Windsor and The Good in the Hood team! And thank you to everyone who dropped an orange token for us during the Good in the Hood promotion.

On Friday, Kate, one of our coordinators, had the pleasure of attending a presentation at Z Windsor alongside representatives from the other three selected charities at Z Windsor: Whānau Āwhina Plunket, Hastings Riding for the Disabled and CanBead Hawkes Bay.

SPAGHETTI, SIRENS & SMILES

It started with one Havelock North Fire Brigade firefighter’s idea—
one simple thought: “Let’s help.”
A spark of kindness, shared with others,
and what a difference that idea made.

Last night through Havelock North
came a sight to warm the heart—
the Havelock North Volunteer Fire Brigade
bringing kindness from the start.

In their bright yellow suits,
with lights flashing red and bright,
sirens singing through the streets,
they brought some joy that night.

They drove the streets through town,
with smiles and waves galore,
collecting packets of dried spaghetti
to help fill our shelves.

For every bowl of bolognese,
there’s pasta needed too—
and thanks to this wonderful drive,
there’ll be plenty to see us through.

Pasta galore, a generous town,
and firefighters leading the way,
turning one simple idea
into something special on display.

Sirens blaring, lights flashing,
yellow suits against the night—
what an absolute delight
and such a heartwarming sight.

Bellyful Hawke’s Bay is so grateful
for every packet, every wave,
and especially for that firefighter
whose simple idea became an act of kindness brave.

One thought. One team. One community.
And spaghetti by the score—
because sometimes helping others
starts with simply saying, “Let’s do more.”

THANK YOU! The full national Double Donation Day matching fund has been claimed! We are absolutely blown away by how you’ve shown up for Bellyful today and throughout September.

To everyone who has donated money, dropped off spaghetti, hosted a pasta drive or collection point, shared our posts and cheered us on, thank you! We’ve loved seeing our community get behind Spaghetti September. Every packet and every dollar helps us get meals to whānau who need support, ready for a day when cooking feels like too much.

A huge thank you to The Meat Box, Ignite wellbeing, My Office Girl Ltd and Silver Fern Farms for putting their support behind the match and stirring up good! We’ve brought home the bolognese!

Thanks to Silver Fern Farms, Ignite Aotearoa, My Office Girl and The Meat Box, donations made today will be matched dollar for dollar while matching funds last. Give $20 and it becomes $40. Give $100 and it becomes $200.

When you give, you help a whānau with a baby or young child open the freezer after a long day and find dinner already there. You give tired parents and caregivers a chance to sit down, eat - and breathe.

Tomorrow is the final day of Spaghetti September, and we’re going out big!

From 9am on Wednesday 30 September, four generous businesses will match donations to Bellyful dollar for dollar while matching funds last. Give $20 and it becomes $40. Give $100 and it becomes $200.

When you donate, you help put dinner in the freezer for a whānau running on empty. You take one thing off exhausted parents’ shoulders and show them somebody cares.

You’ve brought the pasta this September. Tomorrow, let’s bring home the bolognese too. 🩷
