Congratulations WBro. Del Whyte who was honoured with a King's Service Medal (KSM) by His Majesty for service to sport and the community in the New Year Royal Honours.

Del is our Lodge's Director of Ceremonies, a Trustee on the Napier District Masonic Trust and a Past Master of The United Lodge of Napier No. 21. He also serves as President of the Hawke's Bay Cricket Association, with a lifelong passion for sport and teaching.

Our Lodge would like to thank our Grand Master, MW Bro. Jim Watt, for his service and leadership of Freemasons New Zealand over the past three years.

MW Bro. Jim Watt was initiated into Scinde Lodge in 1985 and served as the Master of Scinde Lodge from 1993 to 1995.

"We’ve been reminded time and again that Freemasonry isn’t just about ritual and tradition - it’s about people. It’s about the bonds we share, the friendships we build, and the support we give each other in good times and bad.

We thank all our local active Grand Lodge Officers for their support over the past three years. It won't be the last we'll be seeing of them, some have new roles or continuing on in the same role.

We especially thank our District Grand Master, VW Bro. Kevin Jackson, for his leadership and guidance over his three year term, frequently attending our meetings and supporting our members.

Our Lodge's Assistant Director of Ceremonies, RW Bro. Ian Hunt, has been reappointed as the Senior Grand Warden, and Scinde Lodge member W Bro. Andrew Neilson appointed as our first ever Grand Superintendent of the Central North Island Region.

In a few days a new Grand Master will be installed of Freemasons New Zealand

We look back on the last Grand Installation three years ago in 2022 when Scinde Lodge member, MW Bro. Jim Watt, was installed as Grand Master.

You'll see the Master of Scinde Lodge at the time, W Bro. Clive Broadbent, having the honour of carrying the Grand Master's apron ready for investiture.

MW Bro. Jim Watt served two terms as the Master of Scinde Lodge from 1993 to 1995 and has been a member of our Lodge since 1985 when he joined Freemasonry.

Congratulations WBro. Iulian and WBro. Paul on both being acknowledged to the degree of Excellent Master recently at Napier's Victoria Chapter No. 4 of the Order of the Royal Arch.

The Excellent Master degree, also known as the Passing of the Veils, is the second of three Royal Arch degrees Master Masons can complete.

The degree of Excellent Master was first mentioned in the late 18th century with the current ceremony formed around 1820.
