NOTICE OF AGM

Please be advised that the 2026 AGM for our club will be held at

7.00pm on TUESDAY 13th October 2026 at 149 Seddon Road, Hamilton.

Your current committee would really encourage you to come along and have your say about the clubs' direction and purpose - we look forward to seeing you there.

Maybe you could think about joining the team that organises all the club and concert nights and of course our wonderful wee Folk Festival at Easter.

A special clubnight will be held at the conclsion of the meeting, and we invite you all to attend, and Help us Celebrate our clubs 60TH BIRTHDAY! Free entry for the evening, nibbles provided as well as some special entertainment.....

The Hamilton Acoustic Music Club is proud to Announce this months concert... our very own, Campbell Maydon

Campbell is a treat to listen to with a voice to die for and guitar skills that never fail to impress. He grew up in a well known musical family, singing with them from an early age. Steeped in such a variety of musical genres, he has developed his own style which ranges from folk to rock, traditional to blues. He has such an understanding of his material, that he brings it to life for his audience. He plays in several groups and has built a busy career around his music.

This versatile young man has a promising future and Hamilton is lucky enough to have him in our club. This is a concert not to be missed.

Taranaki singer-songwriter Karen Clarke Blues Woman is our guest at this month’s concert.

A rising force on Aotearoa’s indie blues scene and festival circuit, Karen’s live show hits like a freight train. She’s known for her trademark mahogany-toned vocals over gutsy, driving rhythm guitar. One woman. One guitar. All the damn feelings.

Karen’s show is warm, lively and engaging, with an easy-flowing mix of acoustic feels — upcycled standards and strong original material spanning slow-burn ballads, rootsy blues-rock grooves, alt-country tales, and even the occasional jazz dalliance.

Janet Muggeridge and Dave Murphy are a
Taranaki/Wellington acoustic duo known for their
repertoire of Americana, folk, blues and originals,
including thoughtfully chosen covers from artists
such as Steve Earle, John Prine and Townes Van
Zandt.Their music is fresh, shaped by a shared love
of storytelling and finely crafted arrangements.
Dave’s rhythmic, fingerstyle guitar influenced by the
likes of Robert Johnson and other Delta musicians
provides a strong foundation, while Janet’s
expressive mandolin adds lift, texture and melodic
detail. Together they create a rich, dynamic sound.
Both accomplished singers, their voices sit naturally
together, the harmonies fluid and engaging.
Regulars on the New Zealand folk scene, Janet and
Dave are appreciated for their musicianship and easy
connection with audiences,
Muggeridge and Murphy offer a listening experience
that is rooted, heartfelt, and quietly compelling.

TARANAKI'S BEST KEPT SECRET
FRANK JOHN & ERIN MANU – ACOUSTIC DUO

Originally from Amsterdam, Frank John brings his technical brilliance to this New Plymouth-based duo. Taranaki-born wife Erin Manu provides driving rhythm guitar.

Whether it’s a sizzling acoustic instrumental or the soulful delivery of a ballad, they capture the essence of guitar and song through the variations of the acoustic genres – folk, blues, country, swing and classical – all wrapped into a neat Kiwi-Dutch package. They perform some hidden gems, well known standards and their own compositions.

Their EP "LOST FOR WORDS" - is a compilation of some of their original instrumentals, and available to purchase. Each composition is finely crafted and features Rob Greenfield (bass), Ryan John (guitar), Jude Douglas (violin), Liz Merton (violin) and Cindy Muggeridge (keyboard).
