Greetings!!
This is your friendly reminder that bookings will close for Cluain's 3 day Spring Camp in just over 4 weeks time.
The camp is held over Labour Weekend 24th to 26th October at Braythwayte Manor on the northern shores of Lake Rotorua.
Booking is through the Cluain website: https://cluain.lochac.sca.org/node/392
This year Their Royal Majesties King Aonghus and Queen Ginevra will be honouring us with Their presence.
This annual camp has a focus on Living History with the Bakery, Kitchen and Coffee House at the heart of the event.
This year sees an upgrade to the 'Bird House' (the coffee shop) with the Turkish coffees and other hot drinks prepared over a wood fire -the upgrade also includes spiffy new furniture.
The event is fully catered with delicious meals, from cooked breakfasts featuring camp-baked bread, home cured bacon and free range eggs ++ to hearty evening meals cooked on the wood burning hearth.
There are no clocks... there's a natural dawn chorus and the waft of breakfast cooking at the start of the day and the dimming embers of a camp fire at the day's end. In between there is the bustle of all sorts of medieval activities such as crafts, games, music, singing, archery, chivalric combat, cooking and baking.
Various skilled artisans have so far offered classes and workshops on topics such as 16th century costume, slat bags, fencing, blacksmithing, glasswork, woodcraft and setting up a weighted loom.
Other crafts people have planned include pottery and leather hide processing!
Come and join us - we look forward to your company.
Your stewards, Ed and Bess
