The magic of junk play!

Old fruit bins, “for sale” signs, old baby gates, bee boxes and blankets can be transformed into such a wide range of play ideas!

Junk play gives tamariki the opportunity to use their imagination, think creatively, problem-solve, work with others and develop their own ideas. With no set purpose or “right” way to use the “junk”, children are free to turn their ideas into the most incredible PLAY.

PLAY is at the heart of all learning!

These tamariki have come together to share their interests, communicate their ideas and plan their next hunting adventure!

At Ormond Kindergarten, we value the connections tamariki make between home and kindergarten. Our rural environment provides rich opportunities for children to bring their experiences and shared interests into their play, while kaiako support, extend and enrich their learning through meaningful interactions.

Come take a peek inside our beautiful kindergarten, tucked away behind Ormond School 🌿

Our environment is thoughtfully designed to inspire PLAY, curiosity, creativity, connection and resilience. Every day, tamariki are encouraged to explore, imagine, discover and learn at their own pace through meaningful play.

We're proud to share this special place where relationships flourish, children feel a true sense of belonging and a lifelong love of learning begins 💚
