We were delighted to receive a donation from Dunblane Lifecare after their celebration for World Alzheimers Month🤩 🥳Thank you to Violet, the activities cordinator, who organsied fun activites, along with her team which included Rachel, who made the games and puzzles.🥳 Steve cooked a BBQ and several residents and staff joined in the fun by purchasing an Alzheimers purple tee-shirt to make the purple theme even brighter 👚 🤩. Huge thanks for your support 🥰

Last weekend saw over 200 delegates join the Alzheimers NZ conference to share stories from our lived experience whanau, hear from researchers looking for early diagnosis and medication to reduce or prevent dementia and connect with Alzheimers services around the counrty about the great work they are engaging in with people with dementia. Rayleen, our Dementia Navigator was one of the presenters🤩

One of our volunteers Xinyun Zheng is not only wonderful at supporting our clients in the Sherwood Club, she is also an accomplished concert pianist.🎼 I had the delight of listening to her recital at St Andrews on Sunday. Zheng is very generous in sharing her talent with us and often plays for our clients who can sit and relax as they listen to Zheng's playing on a Monday afternoon in the Sherwood Club.😍.

Last week we were at Farmers Market selling Spud in a Bucket, this week we will be in the foyer at Bunnings from 10.00am - 12.30. 🪴Come in to pick up your entry, go in the draw for a $200.00 mystery prize and get your spud into some soil in its bucket, in time to flourish for prize giving on 5 December.🥔🥔🥔🥔

Music is so good for the soul. It can have a calming and reassuring effect, bringing back happy memories and helping us feel connected to our culture and to one another.🎼

At the Sherwood Club, we provide opportunities for our clients to enjoy music and song as often as possible. Whether we are singing along to a favourite tune, sharing a special memory or simply enjoying the rhythm together, music is a wonderful way to relax, have fun and enjoy good times with others.

There is something very special about the way music can bring people together and create moments of joy. 🎵💙

We had a grreat night at Bunnings for the launch of the 2026 Spud in a Bucket competition.🥳 You will find us tomorrow at the Farmers Market. $15.00 for adult entries. 12 and under $10.00. Every entry goes in the draw to win a mystery prize from Bunnings valued at $200.00 plus loads of prizes for the heaviest and most spuds in your bucket. All proceeds do to help us in our work people with dementia mate wareware🤩
