THETA Sexwise

THETA Sexwise The Theatre in Health Education Trust THETA: www.theta.org.nz runs a Sexual Health programme: Sexwise Sexwise is proudly supported by regional funding.

Our interactive theatre-based programmes use a combination of traditional theatre, educational drama, structured role play and decision-making activities to engage students in the exploration of issues relevant to their lives. Sexwise consists of a theatre session and an interactive workshop, and aims to engage students and have them create safer sexual health messages. It is designed to support t

he teaching of the NZ Health Curriculum and to increase students' use of follow up support and services. For our upcoming 2022 tour we are supported by:

How's this for a community working together for our young people?

Our recent visit to Whanake Youth this week has had to be cancelled due to their unforeseen closure, but thanks to violence prevention group RISE and in collaboration with WAA! (Whakatū Arts and Action) we are able to offer a FREE public performance of Sexwise this Wednesday 13th of May at 6pm.

Thank you to Miranda Warner, Karolina Gorton and Alan Proctor-Thompson for working so quickly to provide this alternative opportunity to our young people, and our hearts go out to Lee Ann and the team at Whanake Youth.

We hope you can join us!

🤔 It's not just devising in our 5 weeks of rehearsals in Ōtepoti, our Performer/Facilitators complete courses in Q***r Identities, Disclosures from Young People, HIV as well as participate in workshops and guest lectures from Netsafe, RISE (Family Violence Prevention), STI Education Foundation, Southern Sexual Health Services, Moana Vā, Mana Tipua, The Light Project, Decide.org.nz and the Positive Speakers Bureau! 🤯 Now that's a lot of education! 📚🎓

All of this information is so that our programme remains most up to date with rangatahi, sexual health and healthy relationships information, and our facilitators can best answer all the tricky questions! 🌟

There are still spots available in Term 2 for delivery, so if you are an alternative educator, an area school, a high school between 434-569 on the Equity Index or have high populations of Māori or Pasifika students, we might be able to deliver Sexwise to your taiohi for FREE! Get in touch today with [email protected]
