Anarchist social centre, infoshop and archive with a wide array of anti-authoritarian and independently produced books, zines and more in central Ōtepoti (Dunedin), Aotearoa (New Zealand). We stock a range of radical anti-authoritarian literature and independently produced media: t-shirts, patches, audio visual stuff and more. The shop is a community space and child friendly environment to support
flax-roots organising in Otepoti/Dunedin, Aotearoa and the world. We welcome groups or individuals who would like to use the space for regular and/or one-off events such as discussion evenings, workshops, meetings etc. Black Star Books is organised and staffed by a collective of volunteers who work non-hierarchically & make decisions by consensus. We are an open collective which means anyone is welcome to join as long as they are willing to volunteer some time; to work collectively and to make decisions by consensus. We also welcome folks who may not wish to join the collective but would like to support in other ways, such as contributing a specific skill, doing a shift or putting up some posters. If you are interested in getting involved, drop by and talk to us at the infoshop, send us an email, or even write us a letter, we'd love to hear from you! OPEN:
WEDNESDAYS 1-5pm, FRIDAYS 1-5pm, and sometimes other random times.
