It was a pleasure to have Hon Nicola Grigg, Minister for the Environment, visit us today. While Kilmarnock is well known for our social impact, fewer are aware that our work also has a significant environmental impact through our material recovery and recycling initiatives.

We were grateful to have the opportunity to showcase some of the positive environmental outcomes our work achieves through

♻️ Up-cycling single-use cleaning product bottles through will&able
♻️ Collecting and processing soft plastic waste
♻️ Sorting hair and salon waste
♻️ Recycling golf balls
♻️ Recovering metals from electronic waste

All helping to keep tonnes of plastic and hazardous waste out of landfill. Beyond creating meaningful employment and skills training for people with intellectual disabilities, these jobs directly contribute to a more sustainable future.

We appreciated how engaged and interested the Minister was throughout her visit, swapping hats between Minister for Environment and Minister for Women.

Thank you, Minister, for connecting with the Kilmarnock community, listening to our challenges and recognising the important work we do.

This week, our team brushed up on their winter road cycling skills with expert coaching from Paul at Odlin Cycle Coaching. A big thank you to Paul for his expertise and to Christchurch City Council for funding sessions that help keep Kilmarnock employees safe and confident on their commute.

It's that time of year already! A huge thank you to Chef Ani and Andy from Sudima Hotels for dropping by with delicious minestrone soup and bread rolls for our team in support of our winter wellbeing initiative. Each year, thanks to Kilmarnock staff and generous sponsors, we serve a hearty soup to keep our team nourished and warm during the chilly months 💙

We are so proud of this milestone achievement for Teowai. A huge thanks to the NXP team for supporting her aspirations to transition from disability enterprises to the open workforce.

A big thank you to Teowai, who recently joined our NXP Warehouse team in Christchurch for three weeks of work experience through Kilmarnock's employment pathway project, BEAM (Bridging Employment Ability & Momentum).

Teowai quickly became part of the crew and was a great help across the Warehouse. She brought a positive attitude every day, was always happy to lend a hand, and showed excellent accuracy in her work.

At NXP, we value opportunities to support our local communities. Working with Kilmarnock Enterprises and the Aotearoa Disability Enterprises (ADE) network is one way we can help create meaningful workplace experiences and give back in a practical way.

It was a pleasure having Teowai with us, and we wish her all the best for what’s next.

Team Kilmarnock stepped out in full spirit at Sunday's Walk for Dementia. It was a stunning day to come together and support Dementia Canterbury's inspiring work that uplifts people and their families living with dementia.
