And, also on Saturday, after digging in the dirt, go wash your hands and come back to play some board games with our team! We'll be starting at 2PM at Meepleopolis and this is how to get there. There is plenty of parking available and bus stops nearby at Woodham Road. We'll see you then! 🥰
Board Game Afternoon
We’ve got a fantastic classroom space at the Climate Action Campus, Ōtautahi — but right now, it’s underused.
Why? Our small team is focused on delivering education and outreach programs, most of which take place off-site at schools, libraries, and partner venues. That means the classroom is only being used about 25% of the time — and that’s a missed opportunity.
We’d love to see the space buzzing with life more often — but we can’t do it alone.
That’s where you come in.
We’re looking for volunteers who are passionate about games and keen to help activate the space through regular, community-driven sessions such as:
🧙♂️ Dungeons & Dragons and role-playing game nights
🃏 Weekly Magic: The Gathering meetups
🎲 Board game evenings and social play groups
👧 After-school sessions for tamariki
🛠️ Monthly game design meetups
We’ll provide access to our extensive game library, help with promotion, and even offer prize support for competitions. What we need are committed, community-minded people to volunteer their time to help host and run these sessions.
We’re also open to clubs, community groups, and organisations using the space for their own activities.
We hope most of these programs will be free to join, though we’d welcome a small koha from attendees to help cover rent and operating costs — which are modest.
If you’d like to volunteer, start something new, or bring your group into the fold, we’d love to hear from you at [email protected]
Check out the map to see where we’re located on campus — it’s an inspiring space surrounded by creativity and nature.
Let’s build a stronger, more playful community — together.
