From one wounded community to another, we stand in solidarity with you - grieving families, victims, volunteers, first responders, Sydneysiders.

The actions of the Akrams vs that of Brother Ahmed's remind us of the Quranic verse (5:32) "Whoever kills a soul it is as if he had killed all of mankind. And whoever saves one life, it is as if he had saved all of mankind."

We pray for ease and healing to him and all injured.

Unfortunately there are already reports of opportunistic backlash against the Muslim community. "Do not let the hatred of others cause you to swerve from justice. Be just; that is closer to righteousness". Stay safe.

We also extend our compassion and stand with all victims of terror and violence everywhere.

Choose humanity over hate.

NZ Race Relations Day – Honoring Unity & Justice

Aotearoa is home to many cultures, languages, and identities, and Race Relations Day is a time to reflect on our shared responsibility to uphold equity, justice, and true partnership.

Māori have long fought for recognition, respect, and tino rangatiratanga, and today we reaffirm our commitment to dismantling racism, amplifying Indigenous voices, and creating a future where all communities are valued.

True race relations means action, not just words. Let’s keep pushing for change.

Thank you Lianne Dalziel for your strong support for our kaupapa.

Unity Week NZ extends beyond a symbol of togetherness to a call for accountability, meaningful action, including restorative justice, and a commitment to healing for all affected. Together, we must continue fostering a community that embraces diversity, challenges hate, and supports the ongoing process of recovery.

Analysis: The Government needs to state that we will not reintroduce the military-style rifles, and if this is a problem for the minister then the PM can accept her resignation, writes Lianne Dalziel

Unity Week NZ is made possible by groups and individuals from different cultural backgrounds and faiths - all coming together to promote social harmony in our wonderful country; learning from the lessons of 15 March attacks. If you disagree with our mission, we respect your opinion, but we kindly ask that if you choose to stay, you engage with us in a respectful manner.

Unity is not about sameness. It is about respecting our differences. We may not agree on everything, but we can all agree on one thing— let's not be rude about it.
