1992年1月26日に創立されたニュージーランド国カンタベリー日本人会は2022年に創立30周年をむかえる歴史あるコミュニティです。
日本人会創立よりも先に発足した「ゴルフ部」が、「異国の地で日本人同士すれ違っても、挨拶も出来ない知らない人同士になってはいけない」「日本の代表として意見を言える場を」という趣旨で日本人会を設立しました。
創立30周年が近づいている日本人会は、近年では当地で暮らす日本人の構成年齢も幅広くなってきております。それと同時に日本人会に求められてくることも変わってきているのではないかと思います。2コミュニケーションの方法が多岐にわたる日本人会の各年代の皆様に寄り添える日本人会でありたいと思います。
