We're honoured to share that our founder Allen Hou has been appointed to Christchurch City Council's Multicultural Advisory Group!

This group provides independent advice to Council on matters affecting ethnically diverse communities across Christchurch. Its purpose is to help ensure the voices of our city's many communities are heard and reflected in local decision-making. This aligns closely with our work with Asian migrant families and schools. Through this role, we have a greater opportunity to bring community perspectives to the table and help inform decisions that support the wellbeing, inclusion, and sense of belonging of Asian migrants throughout our city.

We congratulate Allen on this appointment and look forward to continuing our work towards a more connected and represented Christchurch where every community feels connected, represented, and valued.

🌟 Meet Allen, he's recently joined the Council's Multicultural Advisory Group. 🌟

He's looking forward to helping shape decisions that impact different communities throughout the city.

We want to say a big thank you to you, who has walked alongside us by donating, sponsoring and supporting us in any way possible.

In last year alone, your generosity has helped us reach over 6,000 people across Ōtautahi Christchurch and beyond. We've been in schools, in communities, doing the mahi; training teachers, youth leaders, and parents, walking one-on-one with people who needed someone in their corner, and filling gaps in services for Asian communities where ever it was needed.

This video is a small glimpse into the impact that your generosity and support has helped create. We'd love for you to be part of what's next, if you now someone who believes in what we do, introduce them to us, we'd love to hear from them!

Today we were so pleased to see young leaders from Asian migrant churches come together to worship and pray.

Let this be the beginning of something that gives life and builds local churches!

We are hosting a free family seminar in Mandarin next Saturday, the 16th of May on "Connecting with our 3rd Cultured Children". Share this with your parent friends, we'd love to see you all there!

Volunteers have always been an integral part of what ACTT does, especially in how we interact with the community. An example of this impact is through our basketball group which has been running since 2010 with the continuous dedicated work of our volunteers. Our volunteers have been able to develop skills such as leadership, teamwork and confidence which they have now used as tools to give back to the community.

The same volunteers who have made our basketball group possible have stepped up to run sports programs for the children in our community. They have created DNA sports (children’s sports program), a safe, fun and empowering space for children to experience sports where they can build confidence, stay active from a young age.

We started our Book Club in 2025, and we are excited that it continues to run into 2026 as a growing space for learning, reflection, and connection.

Our Book Club runs during the school term and is designed especially for parents of children attending schools. To make it accessible for busy families, sessions are held online, allowing parents to join from home at a time that suits them.

Alongside our online discussions, we also hold in-person meet-ups once a term, creating opportunities to connect face-to-face, share insights, and just hang out.

Through reading together, we explore meaningful ideas, exchange perspectives, and reflect on how we can apply wisdom from books into our everyday lives as parents and members of our community.
