Cancer Society Marlborough Annual General Meeting

We’d love you to join us for our 2026 Annual General Meeting.

📅 Wednesday 30 September, 6pm
📍 Cancer Society Centre, 76A Maxwell Road, Blenheim

Everyone is welcome, whether you’re a client, volunteer, supporter or simply interested in the work we do here in Marlborough.

Want to have a vote? Become a member!
Annual membership is just $10 per person, and membership gives you a voice in your local Cancer Society, including voting at our AGM.

We’re also looking for new Board members

Nominations are now being called for members of the Cancer Society Marlborough Board.

We’d particularly love to hear from people with previous Board experience or relevant experience in HR, legal or governance who would like to help guide the future direction of Cancer Society Marlborough.

Nominations close Wednesday 23 September. The proposer, seconder and nominee must all be members.

Fancy trying something creative in a relaxed and friendly space?

Come along to our free Toi Ora Art Taster, open to anyone affected by a cancer diagnosis.

You don’t need to be artistic or have any experience. It’s simply a chance to try something new, get creative and enjoy some good company in a relaxed and supportive environment.

And we have a winner!

Our lovely volunteer Carol Taylor had the important job of drawing this year’s Cake Raffle, and congratulations go to Carl, pictured here looking pretty thrilled with his prize!

This year was officially our biggest Cake Raffle yet, with more than 1,900 tickets sold. An incredible result and a huge thank you to everyone who bought a ticket, as well as our volunteers who spent many hours out selling them.

And, of course, an enormous thank you to the Marlborough Cake Decorators Guild. Once again, they created an absolutely magnificent cake and their ongoing generosity and support makes this fundraiser possible each year.

Thank you Marlborough. More than 1,900 tickets... you certainly like your cake! 💛

WHATEVER THE WEATHER, DAFFODILS AND STREET COLLECTORS WILL BE OUT IN FORCE THIS FRIDAY AND SATURDAY!

The forecast for Daffodil Day might not be looking too flash, but we’ll still be out there and we need you to come out and support us.

Raincoat on, umbrella up and if you see our collectors, please stop, say hello, grab a daffodil and donate what you can. Every donation helps us support people affected by cancer right here in Marlborough.

And while we’re asking for your support, a huge shout out to some of the people already getting stuck in.

💛 Marlborough Boys’ College, who picked an entire car load of daffodils in just 44 minutes. Check out the video!

💛 Tim Armstrong, a local school bus driver who has decorated his bus for Daffodil Day.

💛 And our brilliant volunteers, picking, bunching, delivering, collecting and helping wherever they’re needed.

Whatever the weather, we’ll be there. Please come out and support Daffodil Day this Friday and Saturday. 💛

Well, thanks to Alex Roberton and the team at Marlborough Weekly, we’re certainly hard to miss in this week’s edition... and in perfect time for our official Daffodil Week next week!

We’re even on the front page, with our incredible Volunteer Coordinator Hilary and her fantastic daughter Hayley braving the chilly Picton water for our inaugural Daffy Dipper. 💛

Cold feet. Warm hearts. We did it! 💛🌊

Our very first Marlborough Daffy Dip is done and what a morning!

The Picton sky was blue, the energy was high and we had a brilliant turnout of brave dippers and equally enthusiastic supporters on the shore. Have a watch... there are some VERY different approaches to entering cold water! 😂

A huge shout out to Meaters of Marlborough for generously donating all the sausages for our sausage sizzle. They were very gratefully devoured by dippers and onlookers alike on a chilly Picton winter morning. 🌭

Thank you to everyone who dipped, donated, cheered, volunteered or simply came down to be part of our first one.

Marlborough, you absolutely showed up. 💛

Cancer doesn’t stop when it rains, and neither do our fundraising efforts!

We’re down at the Marlborough Farmers’ Market this morning, alongside lots of other fantastic stallholders braving the weather with a superb range of local goodies.

So grab your umbrella, come on down, pick up a bunch of beautiful fresh daffodils and support local.

Not only does the Nook stock an amazing selection of second hand books, puzzles and Cancer Society merchandise, but we now have plants for sale! We currently have some cute fuchsias for sale, pop along and have a look. The Nook is open, Monday to Friday 10am to 2pm, 76A Maxwell Road :)
