Recapping an incredible session with Paralympics Target Shooter Michael Johnson and NZ Police School Community Officer Matt Green! 🎯✨

Michael shared his journey to the Paralympics, teaching us the importance of embracing the struggle, staying focused on our vision, celebrating small wins, and most importantly, staying true to ourselves. πŸ’ͺ

Matt spoke about the core values of the NZ Police and their efforts in crime prevention education, along with their collaboration with Fo Guang Shan for the 3G4G Festival of Multicultural Sharing. The β€˜Conscience and Temptation’ skits during the conference were an absolute highlight! 🎭🌟

Reflecting on a powerful forum session with three inspiring speakers! 🌟 Supt Scott Gemmell, Snr Sgt Anson LIN, and Editor Farida Master shared their journeys and the roots of their aspirations. 🌱 Supt Gemmell’s desire to protect others, born from his own experiences, led him to join the NZ Police at a young age of 16. Snr Sgt LIN was inspired by the dignified image of the police after moving to New Zealand, finding his true calling in law enforcement. Editor Farida Master spoke about the power of storytelling in connecting communities. Their stories remind us to stay true to our dreams, face challenges with resilience, and embrace faith and humility. πŸ™βœ¨

When Dr. Eric Chan is involved, the classes are filled with laughter and dharma wisdom. 😊✨ Over two amazing days, we gained so much from his teachings. 🌟 During his sessions, we were able to learn how to find our core values in life. We are very grateful for his dedication in answering all our questions with very insightful answers. πŸ™ A huge thank you to Dr. Chan’s mum for encouraging him to fly over to NZ for ANZBYC, even while being ill. πŸ’–

Our first guest speaker Hon Maurice Williamson presented to us on the alternatives for the future. πŸ•° He encouraged the youths to develop curiosity and the need to adapt to changes with the advancements of technology. πŸ“±A very thought provoking and inspiring experience. ✨

The food was a highlight of ANZBYC πŸ˜πŸ˜‹ For the entire 3 days of conference, not a single dish was repeated. We are grateful towards the BLIA members and volunteers for working tirelessly in the kitchen to give us joy and fuel for the conference. πŸ˜‡πŸ™ Also, a massive thanks to the CDC students and YAD helpers for supporting the dining service.

Other than eye-opening classes during ANZBYC, participants engaged in Tai Chi, sitting meditation, and walking meditation. These activities helped everyone refresh and recharge, focusing on the present moment and regulating our breathing. This enabled our brains to become like sponges, soaking up wisdom from the speakers and consolidating our thoughts. πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈπŸ§ βœ¨
